I upgraded my OS to a fresh copy of windows XP home edition. When I had windows 98 installed the computer shut off itself....now.....windows XP comes up with that stupid screen that says "it is safe to turn your computer off"......anyone know what the problem could be?

really? But windows 98 shut the computer down without me having to push the power switch. The PSU is suppose to shut off by itself....i thought
are PSUs not compatible with Windows XP? if I got a new PSU and put it in would that solve my problem?

when i ran 98 on my old computer it would sometimes do this after a reinstalled winodws 98. If i wanted to get rid of it all i would do is just reinstall windows. That would usually fix that problem

well guess what....it wasn't the BIOS.....but I found that there is a setting that allows advanced power management in XP....it was turned off so I enabled it and it solved the problem....Thanks guyz for your help :D
