Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker first time poster, Yoshi love your stuff. Anyways without further wasting of time I just wanted to get some input and feedback I just went out like tonight and bought a brand spanking new Nintendo DS for the express purpose of taking it apart and painting it. I dont have a name for this "mod" though im hesitant to call it that. If people would like me to post images etc let me know im going to take my time and lots of pics.

Let me know. Its going to be blackblack. Some clear coat maybe.
looking for input and feedback.

thanks

OK

So a few hours and one Tim Hortons Coffee and its apart. I got a little stuck disconnecting the ribbons for the displays but found a good site (http://www.overclockers.com/tips1084/)

Here are some pics ill add a little detail for each one

Took the battery cover off and the battery out, fried myself on an xbox now im paranoid. This is the only outside screw that is not proprietary robertson. The rest of the screws are well they are nintendo screws. Three instead of 4 slots.

Next I took the back cover off

Back to Ordinary Screws

Next was to remove the mother board but i did notice something interesting abot this unit it has two holes on the left of the battery as if you could attach something there reminds me of where one would put a pinheader like xbox

Now getting the top of this thing off was a pain in the but coiled up vid ribbon and hidden screws, not to mention a power cable.

Heres a pic of the top video not touch screen with speakers the back of this was held on again with screws that were hidden under what looked to be little rubber cusions for when you closed the lid, ahhhhhhhhh needless to say those are um well gone as if they were melted into place stupid nintendo you tried to hide em but i found em, bizznatch

Finished all the pieces

Now the hardest part of this whole thing was getting the hinges apart they are glued in, I also took out the plastic screen cover on the top i want a high high high quality finish so there was no way i could leave any parts together.

Hope you enjoyed it time to paint. Let me know what you think about the following.

1. On the lid there is a imbedded NINTENDO rubber decal I could tape it off but lame. Give me some ideas?
2.It says nintendo ds below the touch screen should i replace it or just go black?

not sure what that Nintendo decal looks like.

If it is some sort of sticker, you could see if a small flat screwdriver would help you pry it up. I find I have to add a little glue on re-assembly.

Wow hard to take a picture of these parts when they are just black, I missed some of the dust so caught some in the paint but all in all they look nice need some additional ideas though

Did you paint it in one quick layer? I hope not because the best way to spray paint is to go in small thin layers.

Nice. What happened to the sticker and the logo? Is it just all black or did you tape it off?

Ah good. You found linear's vinyl dye review, which brings me to think that you found his case painting guide, which guides me to believe you painted correctly =]

Good job btw.
