Alright so I bought this case on Newegg for $10:
http://www.jameslena.com/images/2_13_05/case.jpg
Im going to modding this case for awhile before I put the components in so that I can get a lot done.
I'm for sure going to do a window, going to be painting the chassis, and hopefully, if the material cooperates, be painting the outside.
I've been debating color scheme's with TMG and everyone in #hellamods and these are some of the PS plan's we've come up with.
2-Tone White and Green

i like TMG's idea :)
I might do the other silver borders black also....we will see. Still playin with it.

I like the white and green a lot, cause it's something that I don't think I've seen a lot, and I like the black and green, but everyone does it. And I like TMG's custom window idea, but my capabilities with that go as far as a window kit.
Also since I'll be doing that window, I need some ideas for the chassis color that will match with one of the schemes.
And if anyone knows of any site with the paint that I need that accepts PayPal, or a site with the window kit that accepts PayPal, please let me know cause I got $200+ in my PayPal account that I'm dying to spend.
Any input will be appreciated.

That's a good idea, TMG is gonna look at some plexi prices by his house and then I'll see if I'll be able to do the custom window, if not, I'm just gonna get a kit.

What's the deal?
If you guys are having personal issues please dont deal with it in public on the forums.
Its negative energy posts like that that make people uncomfortable and not want to come around as much.
I want people to speak your minds, but not at the expense of the atmosphere of the forums. Its supposed to be family friendly here!
Its you guys that will either make this a fun place to be or not... please try to have fun and be positive.
Thanks

No man i said that jokingly...you think if i was actually aggrevated at him about it i would be posting it on an internet message board versus going to his house, grabbing his key off the 6 foot shelf that nobody can see in his family but everybody else can, and beating him with a blunt object? :P

Hey J-Hood, this is what I think you should do to the case. I took the colour scheme from TMG's idea and gave it my own twist. You should do the drive bays and the area around the power button black with the rest of the front bezel done white. Paint the rest of the case red with black and white pinstripes and the inside of the case jet black. Have the rectangular window in it but cover it with a fairly dark car window tint. Then on the inside have a bright white cold cathode so you can see through the tint when you have the machine running. And if possible, change the LED in the power button from blue to red. Let me know what you think?
Nice Darth! I like it a lot.

darth....ummm.....yea, well.....your idea...don't mean to be rude....is hella freaking awesome. haha. It's a great scheme and I like it a lot, but not too big on red, I could swap that for green though, and if all goes well with the painting, the pinstrips would be great, again, I'll have to see how the case cooperates when it gets here, but I'm seriously going to have to consider your idea.
I'll keep y'all posted, case gets here on Wed. so LOOK OUT!

02-14-2005, 05:19 AM
nice, but this is just how i feel, i think maybe you should flip it around and do the white parts black and the black parts white. thats just my opinion because i like black. but darth that is an awesome idea

02-14-2005, 06:45 PM
Thanks for the feedback guys. It's the first time I've ever designed a paint scheme for a case. I'm still only a newbie to modding (I have a heap of ideas for case designs and stuff, just no money to start any of them). I'm glad you like it J-hood. Doing green instead of red would look awesome. After I finished the design I did realise that it does look a bit like a Starsky and Hutch mod but it was never intended to be that way.

http://www.jameslena.com/images/noname_mod/case_plans4.jpg
There it is, really bad PSing, but you get the idea. I like how that works, and I'll be doing the chassis that same green. I might also alternate black/green on the drive covers.
I'm changing all the leds to green, I'm gonna do that now.
J-Hood
02-15-2005, 07:47 PM
Ah, so plugged in the front led to see it before I mauled it and its one of the leds that go thru a bunch of colors in sequence with patterns at all. Even tho its l33t, I'm still gonna use a green on cause all the colors will clash with the case and the pattern gets really annoying after a few loops.

Thanks for the link to graffiticreations.com J-hood. The paint scheme for your case looks really good but I agree with kennyt772, some sort of pinstripe would make it look even better. Also, are you going to add in a window?
kennyt772

along with the pinstripe it could be grifitti (sp?)
J-Hood
02-17-2005, 06:48 AM

Ok so the COD show was today >>> www.codshow.com <<< and I picked up some goodies for the mod.
http://www.jameslena.com/images/noname_mod/DSC01981.JPG
800Mhz, 8xAGP, 2x DDR400, Socket 478, Onboard LAN, Onboard audio, Onboard VGA, 2x PCI, and 1x CNR - $49
2x 24" Dual Channel Green Rounded IDE Cables - $10
Green PSU Connector Changeover Kit w/ green sleeving and molex pin remover - $5
Dual Green 12" Cold Cathodes - $6.50
52x CD-ROM (just to put in until I get my DVD burner) - $5
Spool of 10 CD-RWs (just because) - $3
I changed over some of my psu and threw together the rest just to see.
http://www.jameslena.com/images/noname_mod/DSC01986.JPG
Those cc's are hellabright. I'm gonna do the rest of my psu, but I can't think of how to remove the plug for the mobo plugs and almost screwed one for good try to, any help?
I'm gonna buy the window tonight and cut it all before paint, gonna do a 80mm blowhole too. Now that I got goodies and I'm back on track, expect updates!
J-Hood
03-02-2005, 08:36 PM
I'm glad to see that everyone is replying to my update, I feel special.
So here's another update, I got my window kit in the mail today from www.frozencpu.com, took 2 1/2 days to ship at base price, hell yea. So I've been itching to cut this thing open and I busted out the Dremel today and cut the window. I used 3 fiberglass reinforced cutting discs to cut the 12"x12" window, didn't break any, wore them all down. This was the first time I used the fiberglass ones, I'd been saving them for when the job really mattered, and now it did, and they cut like butter.
When they were full size I did the straight lines, and when they wore down a bit from that I did the corners, worked great.
I don't have a better pic right now cause my friend has my digi cam, so I used my Handycam to get something up.
http://www.jameslena.com/images/noname_mod/window_mod_low_qual.jpg
Right now its mounted in the molding with the protective layer on the plexi cause I'm going to take it out when I paint it, and I dont have the lock stripe in.
I'm debating whether I should try and paint in the cold/snowy weather I have now, or stock up on supplies and wait for sunny days.

dude that is looking awsome. i cant wait until the rest is done. just a few ideas......... paint mobo/gfx card, inside black, paint PSU, keep working and updating. thats it im done.
J-Hood
03-02-2005, 09:26 PM
I'm going to do the UV paint on the gfx card if I can find those pens, the inside chassis is going to be green, the PSU is going to be a green arylic mod. I'm getting greenish yellow UV clear coat paint bottle for some of the fans/air ducts and as an accent inside the case.

I went to Ace today and got some supplies, I got some Gloss Black Krylon Fusion, and some Spring Grass (green) Krylon Fusion. I need to go back and get some more wetsand paper cause I'm out of my low grit. I also got a nice sized sheet of plexi that will be on another thread sometime tonight.
I sanded and painted the drive covers so far.

http://www.jameslena.com/images/noname_mod/DSC02069.JPG
It has a pretty decent finish for the lazyness that I put into it. The finish doesn't need to be nice at all tho, a layer of plexi goes over these.

Yea so I'm probly going to Ace tomorrow to get more grits then I'm going to paint the out side part of the front bezel.

03-06-2005, 09:36 PM
Alright, I sanded down and painted the 3.5" floppy drive bays and painted them, they are curing overnight now. I started sanding the inner part of the bezel, but didn't get finished cause my thumb kills and I don't have the right grits. I got pretty far on it tho, the 2-tone colors on the front bezel should turn out real nice.

Well done J-Hood. I can't wait to see your finished work. Practise more on the sock so you won't get tired from sanding. (private joke..lol)
Wrap the sandpaper in a block or something, so its easier to sand the edges?
J-Hood
03-06-2005, 11:05 PM
Yeah, the only reason I held up as long as I did was because of the sock. And yeah, I think i was use a block when I get my new grits tomorrow cause its a hassle folding it and working the edges and blah. Thanks.

Yay, updatage. I walked to Ace and picked up some 180, 220, 400, 600, 1000, and 1500 grit wetsandpaper, some for now, some for the metal later.
Ok so I finished sanding down the front bezel with 400.
