Thanks grosser :D . It's amazing what you can accomplish when you don't date and have no life worth mentioning beside computers, movies, and comic books.

Though I'm still waiting for that call from Morgan Webb...hehe.

such a nice system and a weak monitor, for the price of that tiny 17" lcd you could have prolly gotten a 22" crt

 what you got against comics?

Actually Tweek, I've had the monitor for about 3 years and it works just fine for me even with movies and games. And I found it to be much easier on my eyes than a CRT. Yeah, it's not a 22", but I wouldn't classify it as "weak".

And n0strax, I never said I had anything against comics. I've got one side of my walk-in closet stacked with boxes of books in mylar bags. Does anyone know of a good database program that'll let catalog my books with a barcode scanner? That might be my next piece of hardware to add to my system.

I wouldnt call that weak either...man I have only got a 14' LCD but I still consider it much more clear than most crt

Well I got it when LCD's like just became popular for computers and it costed like $400, now that I think back, I was like the only person I knew that had one and my friends were so jeliouse of me. Now I think back and say, "Why couldnt I have waited a bit longer?"

I wouldn't sweat it, Alucard. The bottom line is: everything's obsolote the minute you buy it. If you're always waiting for something better to come along, you'll never have any fun. :o

For example, I just went and got a 160gb IDE drive that CompUSA for $100 after rebate. Nice deal, yes? But not when you think about the fact the Serial-ATA drives are going to make that look like a Zip drive once the standard starts being widely adopted.

So what can you do? Upgrade when you can afford it and keep the parts as hand-me-downs. I've already built two systems in the past couple of years from spare parts and given them to family and friends who don't need or want anything like I crave in the way of sheer power and coolness.

holy crap. What size PSU do you have in that thing?

Hi Ludelover,

I've got a 300W ATX power supply. Don't remember the brand. I've had it a for about 4 years now. Carried it over from my previous PIII 933 rig. Originally bought it because I thought the Hercules Prophet GeForce 2 I had bought at the time might be too much for the 200W I was using previously.

Seems kinda silly in retrospect, doesn't it?

geez, I know what you mean about the upgrading biz. I got two Maxtor 120gig hard drives and geez, I dont know if I should have gone with serial- ATA, oh wait then I would have to buy a Serial-ATA mobo right after I got a new mobo, I hate this upgrading stuff lol
