I am gunna use wet sand paper once I get a layer of paint on. I am just tryin to get the old paint off first.

Keep in mind that when you paint something gloss black you have to make sure you are in a clean area... because dust might get into the paint while you are doing it and it will drive you nuts because you cant do anything about it...

One time i had use an electric sander like you did and I ended up with hairline sratches all over the paint job. For warned is For armed

ya i am a little worried about that. If it does do that then I will get out my trusty sand block and sand them down to smoothness.

P.S. I cut my finger and so I took a break for a day thats y there is no pics.

Just use a very fine sandpaper and you wont get the hairline scratch marks...

Ya I have 600 grit paper to get all of those nasty little scratches out.

sorry for nothing new but my entire comp situation is melting down. When I reinstall windows i will get pics up.

600 is definitly not enough, you will need at least 1000, perferribly 1500-2000 for glass like shine.

I can't find 1000 or higher in any of my local hardware stores.

you probably wont be able to find that high of a grit in a hardware store, try your automobile store in the paint isle.

I have been wetsanding the primer and It is very tedious becuase after like 4 strokes the sand paper gets covered in the mud that comes from sanding. I then have to take about 2 minutes washing it off and then soak it again in water/soap. Is this how it goes or is there a way to speed up the process?

P.S. I am uploading right now so stuff is up

I was wondering how bad it would be if I wetsanded primer that didn't say wetsandable.

Not to be a pessimist, but it's not a great idea to sand down to the bare metal. Not too many people know that aluminum will oxidize and eventually flake off. Now, the way that aluminum is made today, the oxidation process has slowed tremendously. The whole point of sanding is not to remove the paint, since that can be done with paint remover ( or for the lazy, spraying down some paint and wiping it off ). You sand to smooth out the original finish so that you can paint on it without effecting the next coat a whole lot texture wise. This is why its a good idea to sand between coats of paint.

Though steel is the worst when it comes down to sanding down to the metal. Once the steel is exposed to fresh air and moisture in the air it begins to rust and will continue to rust after the paint is applied.

thanks but my problem was with my crapping case like two strokes with the sand paper brought down to metal.
