Power load, or power supply

When opening any applications on the computer, I can hear the system sounds in a lower tone from the normal operation tone?? Its really hard to describe the sound. I guess the more stress on the CPU, I can hear the computers tone drop then it resumes to a normal running sound when idle. Is this normal?

I am running (ASUS CUV4X) P3 933EB, 640MB SDRAM:

- 1 20GB 7500 RPM drive
- 1 CDROM drive,
- 1 DVD ROM drive
- 1 video card (AGP)
- 1 NIC
- 1 sound card
- 1 IEEE 1394
- 1 floppy
- 1 USB printer
- 1 USB scanner
- 1 USB joystick

Not too sure what power supply make/model it is. I have 2 other pow supplies that I can try as well. Is this normal though? It kinda sounds like a fridge, but very very faint.... LOL... don't know how else to describe the sound it makes.
