Not really. The makers of those devices have to stay within strict FCC regulations as to not impede on other transmissions

yes... buy a linear amplifier, and mod that to output a stronger signal... OR build an antenna that has a high gain and is properly tuned for that frequency. Use this formula to build a good antenna... here's a good site for the calculator: http://kb5wck.com/antenna.php#Halfwave%20Verticals
another thing... when building a "halfwave vertical," make it so that youhave it pointed STRAIT UP. Also, to get a good gain on the antenna, search google for "hi-gain vertical halfwave antenna plans" and it MIGHT come up with a good site.
