I wanted to mod my stereo so that instead of playing cds it plays dvds. Does anyone know exactly how to do this?

Id say add a dvd player....
Your not gonna make your cd player play DVD players.

laser is different. go out and you can get a DVD player for like what 30$

You would have to get so much new hardware to convert it to a DVD player that you may as well just go out and buy the cheapest DVD player you can find...don't waste your time trying to mod it...

you can find them even cheaper those are just two i grabbed
to change out your CD player it would probably cost at least 50$... not to mention i think youd have to rip apart a DVD player to get the parts.

I kno that I'd have to change the laser it just that I don't kno how to do it.
It's not impossible I've seen it done(which is how I got the idea in the 1st place.)
The purpose of this is to have a dvd player, I have one that works perfectly well. The only reason I wanna do it is for fun, curiosity, and boredom.

things your gonna need. DVD player (working one). rip apart the CD player, rip apart the DVD player. Fill the CD play with the DVD guts. there you go
its not just the "eye" (laser) that has to be changed, the hole entire board and circuits are different. not to mention the outputs....
my guess is, to do it without buying a new DVD player.. probably cost you overr a 100$$$
