Hey Guys i am thinking about getting a PSP and i am stuck in "Limbo Land."
Well With a crazy price of 250 for the system it has got to be a nice little handhelp. However when u add a game into that the system with accesories comes out to around $300. I have the money it now comes down to How much i will use this little jewel that costs me $300. I am going on a 12 hour trip and if i get it i will use it like mad on the trip but i dont know how much after that. If the games are good i will play it. IF they suck...then obviously i wont. HELP ME!!!

from what ive seen the gfx are awsome for a handheld. and if you have a car adapter you could get a power inverter and just play a console on a tv.

It is actually much cheaper at 250 dollars if you think about it. 180+30+20+25+15-20(if you get Spiderman 2 in the package).
That package is worth about 270 dollars sold sepratly.
Sony isn't taxing the Californians.
If you have a GBA or GBA SP, I suggest bringing that as well.
Here is something I found, it looks like a very nifty device. http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=48# (http://hardware.gamespot.com/x-15172-O-4-7)

Like any new product it does have some minor issues. Id wait a littel while let them work out the kinks.

I like it that they've been waiting. It gave them more time to check out what they needed to do. They fixed the sticky button problem, and they are currenty working on a better battery.
I would rather the PSP come out in the summer after everything is ready on it, then I'd buy it.

I say buy it, use it on your trip, then sell the sucker back to someone on Ebay if you don't want it anymore. I'm pretty sure you'll get your money back because you can bet your arse they're gonna sell out. Most electronic stores around here are opening early tomorrow just for this PSP release. Toys R Us is actually opening at 6:00A.M. I pre-ordered mine so I'll just be waiting for the UPS dude tomorrow.

Yes I couldnt resist either. For review purposes.... :)
I bought two units (one is for GF after testing is done) today and am testing and reviewing as I type.
I will be posting a full review in next day.
Have yet to play games to see how I like the titles.... Doing battery life testing now.
First using included movie Spiderman2, then Ill repeat using gameplay. Then repeat using second unit. To get good idea if it gets similiar times unit to unit.
Then network play etc etc.
I do love the picture quality and the sound quality of included headphones is very nice, although the earbuds are a little big for those with small ears.

I have been playing the crap out of mine since I got it. I was concerned about getting a first gen also, but so far so good. No sticky buttons, no dead pixels, it's all good. This is going to kick the crap out of Nintendo, it's the first real competition they've had since the birth of the Gameboy(s). Look forward to your review Yoshi.

it's the first real competition they've had since the birth of the Gameboy(s).
I am going to have to disagree with you. Nintendo has had major competition in the handheld market over the years. The most notable was the gamegear. All the machines that came out, most of which were more impresive than the gameboy in terms of hardware, failed to overtake. The major reason for this, battery life, something that the PSP shares. Nintendo has owned the handheld market for over 10 years, they know what they are doing.

Hey man, relax I'm not bashing Nintendo. I've had 3 different variations of the Gameboy myself. However, no other handheld has had the support from developers to stay around long enough to gain a fanbase to compete with the big N.....until now. I personally feel they were to complacent when they released thier DS, assuming every gamer would want one just like every other version of the Gameboy they've churned out. I would personally like Nintendo to stick around forever, I love a lot of thier games. But Sony just raised the bar a whole lot, and if Nintendo can't come up with something more impressive than a widely underused touch screen and some chat software they'll be in trouble.

The DS was never meant to compare to the PSP is terms of specs. The new gameboy on the other hand is. The "evolution" as it is codenamed, is ment to go one on one with the PSP, the DS has always been Nintendo's third pillar.

Has anyone found a good PSP community yet? I have been using the crap out of mine so far. I am using all the avaliable features, I even have pictures on there. I picked up a 512mb memory stick duo yesterday at BestBuy $59.99 after MIR. Web access connecting to any open access point is a must have, I think.

GO GET THE FRIGGIN THING ALREADY! Its really cool but, in my opinion IS NOT worth the WAY over priced $200. it should be like $150 same as the DS. I have a DS and love to chat in school with my friends. its awesome. but... its really up to you.

I just picked up a PSP and must say I am impressed. Not with Sony's proprietary memory stick or UMB but with that fact that this little thing does more than just gaming. It's very useful to people of all ages. It was easy to download my pics and music into it. I can't wait to play wireless Internet gaming or surf the web. Now if only the games and movies get cheaper. My screen doesn't have any bad pixels either, I made sure while I was at Best Buy because I didn't buy the extended warranty.
