I heard that apple is thinking bout using amd processors in their computers. When is this going to happen and will this make it possible for me to dual boot os 10.2 on a pc with win xp

If Apple were to move to AMD pocessors that would benefit them greatly in the market. The current chips made by Motorola just stink. Motorola harldy develops squat for apple and charge 'em a butt-raping. ('scuse my french..)
Apple computers would boost drasticly in speed and they would be much more worth the way-high costs (almost).
If they do go with AMD, they probably will have the chips built so that they can keep OSX on their computers and not PCs.
Nevermind the fact that it wouldn't be hard for them to make OSX work on a PC, and that if they did sell it for PCs, they could kick MS's butt royally.

APPLE WILL NEVER USE AMD!!!! IBM recently made a processor called the PowerPC 970 and their server class chip the Power 4. In macaddict magazine it was said that apple is tempted by these 2 all IBM chips (compared to the current chips made by IBM and Motorola) The powerPC 970 theoretically can max out at 14.4 gigaflops1 gigaflop=1 billion floating point operations pe second. The first powerpc 970's should appear in macs possbly in 2004 running at 1.4 and 1.8gigs and a laptop version at 1.2 gigs.1.8ghtz may sound small but in theory run equal to intels p4 3.06ghtz processor. Dont belive me? Check out page 12 in the febuary 2003 macaddict magazine. Im looking forward to these new chips hope u r 2. for more info on the chip go to http://www.ibm.com/news/us/2002/10/14.html

That's slick. If that chip can truly put out that speed, it will do wonders for Apple.

On the AMD thing- A big thing that could keep Apple from ever using AMD chips is their recent inability to release chips on schedule. Apple needs a company that can deliver on time to keep competitive. If AMD were to keep this trend, Apple would end up in the same spot (well, slightly better)it is in now with their current chips.
