i have no idea whats going on sorry about that maybe a corrupt hdd or something is wrong with the device so my advice is to call apple and see what they can do or if its still under warranty send it out to them but contact them first good luck!

look if you format in my computer than unistall the Ipod updater. reinstall newest version. Than connect the ipod to the computer open ipod updater . that should do it but if not you got yourself a dead ipod.

Try resetting your hard drive. You will lose all of your songs and information, but at least your iPod will work. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ip_gettingstarted_t14.html

If I were you, I would definetly go with the hard reset. If that doesn't work, call up Apple and ask them about it. If you lose all of your songs, you can just re-sync it with your computer.

A couple of my friends had this same problem. The only way it was able to be fixed was to send it back to Apple. I tried to fix one and once I had given up it started working again. I think that the hard drive is either broken or the ipod OS is corrupted.
