ok I was working and went to put a notepad into my pocket. When I took it out one of the staples scratched up the screen of my sony ericsson t610. Yes I know that was stupid. Its not realy deep but you can feel it. and the screen still works fine but the scratch kinda gets in the way and you cant see much behind it. Could I buff it out or is there something to rub into it to fix it? any help would be appreciated.

can you get a new case? (well, as a last resort?)

You may be able to cover it up with some brand of hard wax, like Future. My brothers mother-in-law tried to remove the price sticker from her new clock with some Goof-Off solvent, and disolved the face along with the sticker adhesive. We sanded it down with some very fine emery cloth and coated it with some wax, and it looked as good as new.

Well if its not too deep, you should be able to get it out with some sort of metal polish and finish the job off with a bit of toothpaste. I know that might sound odd... but trust me... if its not too deep it will work.

New cases are like 10.00 shipped on ebay I bought one for my T610 when I had one and the kit includes the tools. Just make sure when taking it apart not to touch the lcd or get dust on it.

Thanks for the help guys. its not to deep, so I'm gonna try the metal polish and toothpaste. And buy a new case as a last resort(although I could buy a new case and paint it then put the phone in.....) I cant feel the scratch when i rub over it with my finger, but when I run my fingernail over it you can feel it.
Update: I just tried silver polish and then toothpaste and the end result was nothing except my phone now smells minty fresh. :D

I'd be carefull of metal polish. Some contain solvents that can melt certian plastics. Some contain Alunimum Oxide which will cut the plastic very agressivly. Tooth paste might work, but would take forever. Mosts metal polishes (brass, silver, and some chrome) have no abrasives or hard solvents what so ever, so they won't help in the least.
I've used a product on scratched plastics called 'Novus Plastic Polish'.

I get the stuff from a local plastics store (Industrial Plastics and Paint) up here in Richmond, B.C. . They have three different products; a plastic cleaner/conditioner, a fine scratch remover, and a heavy scratch remover. It's pretty cheap, and is probably the best thing for buffing out scratches. I've used it on CDs/DVDs, and it absolutly kicks. I have this CD Disc cleaner that uses a flat felt pad on the surface. The Novus polish has taken out scratches that nothing else could. In total, I've saved probably a dozen or more scratched discs from the landfill, a couple of them being hard to find limited edition DVDs.
Since your screen is probably some cheap Poly-Carbonate, Novus should make it good as new, and its handy to have around for you CDs/DVDs too.
