so i just watched the systm episiod about myth tv wile its not the 1st time ive herd about myth tv i am still left with some of the same questions and sence the system web site dont have forums or anything i fugured this would be a great place to ask

1.) i do not have your typical cable system in my house insted of all the tv. having a cable box there is one box that controls all of them with the help of 3 IR remotes the way this works is one remote contols the feed to all the tv's that are tuned to chanal 3 another remote will control chanal 10 and the 3rd will contorl chanal 13. can i still use myth tv(or any pvr) with this type of set up

2.)about how much of a start up cost am i looking at? considering chances are i will have to buy every thing as i have to spare pc's laying around

3.)just how stable is it? my tv is on almost all day and most of the night wether im watching it or not will i have to reboot it once a day like i do with my windows xp. sence its linux i would hope not

i understand that i sound verry noobish with all of this but hey help me learn and you will have sucseded in adding one more to the list of linux users

edit: hey look post number 360 i should get a free xbox 360 for that LOL

1. Im not sure if it will work with that kinda cable or not. I would Highly recomend watching Systm ep2. Its entirly about building your own MythTV box. There is a website they mention on the ep that will be able to give you more info on if your Cable will work with MythvTV too. Check it out:

1.) Some features will work, such as rewinding live TV. But pre-recording things that are on different channels will not work.
2.) About 200$ for the machine, another couple hundred for a nice size hard drive, atleast 200 gig.
3.)Very stable once it gets running.
