It's a 16 Bay server case I got from caseutlet.com. This is not your normal LAN case cause it weighs in at 100LBs loaded. With that IF something goes wrong with it I need to know how to fix it cause I'm not carring it to the shop. Plus with all the cooling I doubt they would know how to turn it on.

You all may have seen this on www.LANParty.com a week or so ago.

While my parents were unpacking the christmas stuff they gave me that snowman and said do something wit it! So I decided to add a little christmas charm to my case. lol

After posting this picture on my website someone told me to send it in to lanparty.com so I did and it was a pic o the day.

it's a fic sd11 mobo, 500mhz athlon cpu, 256 pc133 ram, 6x cdrom, 20 gig hd, 300 watt psu, 10/100 card, radeon ve graphics card, xp pro, using remote desktop connection to access the box so all I have to do is plug it in, hook up the lan cable and turn on, instant cs server!

SeanOMatic

Hope you have 230 bucks...

It is an MSI K7D Master-L Dual Socket A mobo. I am proud of it. Of course, dual CPU's are expensive. Those are dual MP 2400+'s (thanks to Damon @ AMD for the hookup for this poor kid) which run quite a bit of cash.

The mobo comes in red. The memory is Corsair XMS 3500 and the video card is a piece of junk.

having to many fans actully makes it warmer. it just blasts all the air in a big whirl pool and it stays that way. Getting warmer, warmer, and warmer, Well maybe enless you leave the side panel off though so it can escape.

Ok I got the cover almost finished. I need to finish the painting and put in the plexiglass, But I got the CCFL today from PCMods and had to see how it looks. This light is plenty bright enough for this huge case but my video card is blocking the upper left of the window, so I might have to get a second one and put it above the window. 8) Or maybe I'll try putting the light on the right side of the window vertically.

awesome, did you do the dremel work?

steve10
04-04-2003, 07:29 PM
Thanks for the compliment.
Actually I used a hand nibbler because I couldn't find cutting discs that would cut more than a couple inches before wearing down to nothing. The panel is very thick steel and the Dremel was no match for it :) I used the Dremel though to clean up the edges and smooth it out a bit after it was all cut out.
Here I moved the light to the side, it looks much better.

Yes I used the #932 Alum. Ox. Grinding Stone to smooth the edges, and for the tight corners I just used #409 15/16" Cut-Off Wheel.

There Very sturdy with the two horizional acrylic rods across the top.I did a lot of research trying to find a good acrylic case.90% of them are flat peice's of plexi that you screw together. This case comes prebuilt just like any other case you buy.

There are a few draw backs of any acrylic case.

#1 is fingerprints you need to build it using surgical rubber gloves.

#2 is Dust,im sure you have seen it on case windows(static electricty) I clean mine with plasticoat anti static plastic cleaner

#3 is it's EMI shielding is poor which they say can lead to data loss (I haven't had any problem at all )

I really like mine better than any case iv'e had yet.If your thinking about an acrylic case this is one of the best.

Bought mine for $129 HERE (http://www.compusaveinc.net/show_item_full.cfm?item=EMDRGRAC) and here is a REVIEW (http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/beantech_bt84_acrylic_case/index.shtml) from Virtual-Hideout

Some of my more recent work. Although I have a really sweet plexiglas case coming down the pipe soon. It was kind of a weird feeling to see my guide on vinyl dye posted in the offical links here.

I like the UV work. Just so you know, you mixed up the links on the UV case and the Plexi case...might want to fix that real quick.

I keep mine open for max cooling. I can't troubleshoot, can't find this stuff. Well I keep the top and the side panels off. Oh, yea my friends call it ghetto, and what not if you want pics for it pm me, cause i can't figure anyother way to figure this crap.

I've got the ghettoest server case in the lands. I can't find IDE cables long enough for the CD to the mobo, though. It kind of upsets me. Anyway, here's the case in all its glory at this bonefide location (http://qlink.queensu.ca/~3kjm2/). It's a ghetto homepage for a ghetto case, created with notepad. All the case's explanations and such are at the end of the webpage. Warning, this is image heavy as each image is ~500kb and there's about 4 of them (I think). Okay, tell me what you think.

poor kid? I love this case!

those pics were before i installed my optical drives. I got the lian-li covers that go over the face of the drives though so it looks really nice and I didn't have to do any modding whatsoever.

ps. I believe the silver one with no case is the pc-60

pc-61 is black

and some others mean they have windows. I just know mine is pc-60

Well here is a quick snap of my pc, its a new case, my last case was heavily modded, but too small i got uncomfurtable with the inside space so i just got this one, havent done much to it yet, it packs the power under the hood tho, i guess thats what matters 41k in aqamark

Dremeled?

I gots the pc-61 and the pc-71 and they are both awesome cases. Simple, clean and nice materials. Perfect jump off points to mod. Those stealthed drive plate covers are nice and all, but you can easily make you're own with a dremmel and the "space holders" that come with the case.

Thumbs up for Lian-Li!

He got it for free from his dad, got it from work or something. Personally I just love the 18 RAM slots, serious performance.

oh
and yea... right now theres up to 1 GB per stick of RAM (certain type) right?? (let me know if its more than that) so that many slots on a newer system is a LOT of RAM

dstone
05-13-2004, 03:51 PM
It's up to 8GB now, check Price Watch (http://www.pricewatch.com), click under system memory, and there you go. 1GB sticks are available for most machines now, I had one for a while until it went bad, then sprung for 3 512's for about the same price ($130).

Thanks for replying for me, James. Yes, I did get it fir free from my dad's office. 18 RAM slots...Damn-straight

I do think that it can only handle 512 MB of SDRAM pc100 in each of the slots. The downside is that it needs to be installed fours (as in 2 pairs) which makes it impossible for me to take out any of it for use in other systems.
