I would have to second the vote for WinMX, nice piece of work, lots of config options like controlling band width both in bound and out bound, etc. nice displays showing graphs of activity too.
I don't consider the option of using anything else as long as WinMX is available, YMMV, IANARIAA fan

i use Kazaa Lite. http://www.kazaalite.com/

it works well, doesn't have spyware, etc. you might also want to look for the "kazaa cheater" somewhere, too. it raises your "participation level" in the newer version of kazaa (lite).

i have tried most of them, but i still prefer irc or newsgroups for dl. but i do like the way direct connect works.

I use KaZaA, With a downloaded program called Diet Kaza that removes all the spyware, banners, and popups.

Diet Kazaa is what I use when WinMx gives me fits. I'm switching over to Cable Internet on Tuesday so I am going to have better results either way. www.afternapster.com is an interesting site, they talk about the latest P2P progrmas out there and I'm debating if I want to mess with eDonkey or not.

IRC junkie here as well... and when running in SuSE pro i use Excursion..

Excursion? isn't that windows based... well yes... but i have that purdy lil proggie called WINE.... it's the greatist... and besides i can even import my normal settings from my windows distro into the linux one and i now have a clone and never lose my settings, plus the fact that Bitch-x, and x-chat are a bit too utilitarian for me, they have no sole, just a big block of code slapped into a poorly designed interface... i mean c'mon, can't ya even tile the damn chat sessions so you are watching multiple channels and users PM's at once?
another perk is Excursions file browsing interface for DCC based file servers... no more typing in the pm window all thatjunk... point and click baby...
