Try ZoneAlarm, if memory serves, they have a free version, and ZoneAlarmPRO.

My vote goes to Zone Alarm as well. You can download it HERE. (http://download.com.com/3000-2092-10153456.html?tag=lst-0-1)

If you're up for spending a little cash ($50 to be exact) then give Norton Personal Firewall 2003 a go: Download the trial version which you can use for 15 days HERE (http://download.com.com/3000-2092-10173331.html?tag=lst-0-1), then you'll need to pay to continue using it. I've used Norton Firewall for about 2 years both on Win9x/Me and WinXP and I like its larger than ZA feature set...gives you more security options to configure. It's a more comprehensive firewall than ZoneAlarm.

You have antivirus software currently installed on both PC's and the antivirus definitions are up to date right?

Also, since you have a peer-2-peer network going there you might consider getting a router. This way, if you have broadband (such as cable/dsl) you can share the connection between the two computers, AND you'll have MUCH better security with the router since the router basically acts as a Hardware Firewall. My recommendation goes to Linksys for ease of use and overall quality.

BTW, what OS do you have?

I would suggest Sygate Personal firewall.
Download it here http://soho.sygate.com/products/comparison.htm

I would also suggest Zone alarm for a free firewall.
