I have a WRT54GS v1.0 and i want to replace the factory firmware for a different one that can increase my transmit power. I also have a wireless gaming adapter by linksys,Also how will this be affected by the new firmware?

HyperWRT or DD-WRT will work.

I don't know exactly how that works, but if it connects to your main router by SSID then you will more then likely have to reset the 360's wireless adapter's settings. When I switched my WRT54GL to DD-WRT the SSID changed and all of the router's options went to default, based on the firmware (login, password, etc).

how hard was it to install DD-WRT? Also how much signal increase did you get?

i installed DD-wrt on 2 routers in like 2 hours. in that time i also set up WDS which is since you can make routers wireless/wired access points.

With DD-wrt installed on my WRT54GS i could make it a wireless access point with out it being connected through ethernet to my main router. I have a netgear router that is not in use and i would just make the netgear be my main router if i can do this. Would i be able to do this?
