Have you tried wiping with a damp (NOT sopping wet) cloth, then drying it off with a towel?

Use some alcohol or Sea Breeze on some cotton swabs. Goo Off works well too, but be careful, it might melt plastic.

but you remembered that...good...cause trust me that stuf will burn through some plastics...According to this link (http://radthoughts.com/2007/03/31/how-to-remove-price-tag-guck/), Deet melts plastic too. :( Apparently it's classified as a plastic solvent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEET#Effects_on_materials), among many other things.
That second link in particular leaves me wondering if it's even possible to remove the DEET from your laptop, or if it's not staining it, but rather melting the plastic.
EDIT: 1000th Post!

hmm that could be bad indeed...i would also keep in mind the fumes if that thing might be burning through your plastic...i mean it has to have kept a smell if its an active chemical on you notebook...

I've seen bug spray ruin the finish on rifle and shotgun stocks, as well as cause paint to run.
