View Full Version : P4 2.8ghz, what is the best memory solution?
I want to use a gig of memory for this but want to take full advantag of the 533 fsb. What is the best I was gonna go with two sticks of Corsair 2700. What you guys think?

Pc2700 is pretty cheap right now so yeah...that would be a safe bet. If you got the $$$ to burn go with PC3200. THe FSB on 3200 is 200mhz where 2700 is only 166mhz. Pc3200 is expensive though.

Since were talking about DDR memory were talking about
PC2700 = 333 Mhz
PC3200 = 400 Mhz
The AMD nForce2 boards have dual channel DDR that support these speeds. Meanwhile, Intel's Granite Bay is giving the choice of PC1600 with 400Mhz bus or PC2100 with 533Mhz bus with their dual DDR-Channel set up.

I assume you mean 256mb.
256mb doesn't cut it anymore. You can get a name brand pc2100 512mb stick (kingston) for $70. If i had to chose between faster generic 256 or slower name brand 512, I'de chose 512.
yea i want to go with a gig of ram for sure. i wanna make a kick ass gamin rig so i want a lot of ram. im think the 2.8 p4 1 gig of corsair, 30gig hdd, radeon 9500 or a athlon xp2800+ with an asus board not sure, any suggestion?
