Wifi Lan and xbox

Hi folks i havnt been in here in a while. I been on geeks a lot and tryin to ask questions on the forums there and i either get ignored or something. but anyway i have my wireless router at a friends apt and im using a wifi card in my desktop to get internet from it. i have another router for my xbox its not wireless and when i hook it up to my lan the internet goes off like its makeing the lan the default i guess idk but i would like to keep the xbox hooked up because im always transferring videos and stuff to it. so how can i stay online while i have the xbox hooked up. sorry if there isnt enough info just ask if you need to know anything else. oh im using vista

Is this setup right?
So you have your desktop connected wirelessly to the internet.
You also have your desktop LAN connection set to allow other computers to connect through it.
You have a router connected to your computer's LAN.
You have your Xbox connected to your router.

If not, correct where it is wrong and we can go from there.

i dont keep the router plugged in because when i do i lose internet.
