Hey, I've been helping my friend mod his computer and we've gotten pretty far, and are planning some more stuff. But here is what it looks like:

The computer did not cost too much. I think my friend spent 300 to buy a P4 mobo, case, and a floppy drive. All the other components he had from old computers (hard drive and DVD-Rom). The modding stuff we went cheap on. I think the total for that was like $25, the most exspensive thing was the neon. That price is going to go up when we add a black light and some interior paint. Hours? We probally spent 6 or so. Most of that was waiting for paint to dry! We are very quick with the whole electronics part, we have that down to an art. Making the window didn't take many hours either.

Just finished adding a black light to the computer. We painted all the wires in reactive paint. All the power wires are reddish-orange and the data wires are blue. Take a look: http://www.geocities.com/robbie806/bluepic.html

I like the wire idea. For me that wud keep it organized :P Where do u get the paint for the wires? And that's a pretty bright light as it seems in the pics. What one did u use?

Hey, We used a black light we found at Spencers for $10. Nothing special just a black light made for the car. We just spliced the connection to the PC. The paint we found at Spencers too. It was a special black light reactive paint. Glow-in-the-dark paint will do it too, but not as bright. The picture actually looks a little brighter than the real thing, just because of the camera. I must warn you, the paint comes off the wires very easily, so after we painted and put the wires in, we had to do a lot of touch up work. If anyone has a solution to this please let me know for further projects.

Would putting a clear coat or something like that on there help?

Being in the Automotive Body & Paint industry for more years than i would like to discuss, there there are two things you have working against you.#1 is Bonding-Most wires and cables have a silicone residue to fight corrosion.Try to clean with a prep solvent or alcohol.A Dye would be a better alternitive to reactive paint.#2 is Flex, most paints will crack as they have no flexable properties.Look for a urathane 2 part system and the catalyst will cook the paint into a flexable rubber like finish.

Wow^2 I wish I had the time and money to put a blacklight in my comp. Could you explain this wire treatment in a eaisier to understand format, you know, for us non-automotive people. :o

I found a UV dye that should fix the flaking and cracking at Directron. (http://www.directron.com/clearneonco.html) Thinking about getting a couple cans myself. ($ kind of high )
