I tidied this up somewhat and completed my wiring. I need to polish the chrome but otherwise its done.

Here is the inside with it's maze of wiring. Trust me there is no feasible way to clean the spaghetti.
I shortened the Power cable for the mobo by over 6" and removed one of the 12v lines so that now I have just the right amount of connectivity.

The IDE cable that you see is not the one that is actually connected, that one is for pin placement
purposes so I didn't lose my place before connecting everything and putting the two halves together.

As you can see by this one, I abandoned my plan to put a graphic in the slot below the handset.
I needed an air intake so I salvaged two 60mm processor fans (cause they are very low profile),
made a grill to fit both of them and mounted them in front of the power supply.

To make life easier for myself the mouse and keyboard are wireless,
making more connection ports is a pain through steel this thick!
The only wires coming in/going out of the case are for power, video and phone.
They connect through the bottom of the case.
Yes, Yes, Yes, I know, I need to polish the Chrome!
Sorry, remodelling my house has taken 98% of my free time. B)

if I remember correctly from previous readings (sorry kisa, I'm post stalking you. you rock! :D ) the phone did still work. I believe he ripped up a desktop phone and rewired it into the pay phone. Am I correct Kis? Keep up the good work, this is some truly amazing shiza, an inspiration to us all.

Thecookiemonster; the mobo is mounted on mobo standoffs that I tapped and drilled into the back of the case.

Heydroid; the phone does work. what would be the point otherwise?

The volume control button from the phone is wired to the mobo pwr on the two fans below the handset are intake, the two above the phone are exhaust.

Kisa , if i may make a suggestion ,

first a compliment , that is friggen fantastic.. now my suggestion.. grab a picture of a payhone.. maybe something like this

http://www.payphone-project.com/payphones/photos/usa/new_york/new_york/last_phone_booths/002.jpg

Notice the insert in the bottom , i suggest you draw one up and take it to kinkos , have them print it on transparency.. make uniform holes in the transparenty and line the back with a fan grill or filter , and insert it where the fans are , this will pretty up the front a bit more and give a more realistic look.. While maintaining your air flow..

I would really like to do something like this to a millenium phoen , with the built in vfd's --Bikr

Actually that make me wonder, whats in the "change" portion of hte pay phone? I mena I'm sure that you modded it so that it no longer requires a coin insert to use it, so then whats in that part? I can sorta tell that its a bunch of wires, but it looks like there's room for somethig else in there.

Just a humble suggestion. :)

GREAT WORK!

GREAT WORK!
good question. the coin box now holds the two pcbs for the phone controls, the plug for ac power and the plug for the vga input. with all of the wiring in there and the plexiglass box that holds the pcbs, there is almost no room in there, certainly not enough for anything useful.

the coin insert is blank behind it. any change inserted would land on top of the HDD/cd-rom bracket.

I would have liked to mod that part of it too but there was just no room for anything worth doing.

thanks for the questions and the great comments.

It'd be kinda cool if when you put in a quarter it starts the computer, then when you push coin return it shuts down :-P

This mod is to be featured in a two page interview in PC Answers magazine. I don't have the publication date yet but I will post it as soon as I do. My thread "promo shot" features one of the pics I did for the article.
