What OS is good for runing a game sever, I was just thinking? What do you think?

2000 or XP has worked fine for me we have had 23 people hooked to one.. playing UT.

linux is the most stable.
Not all games have a Linux dedicated server option though....
It is always best to run a dedicated server if you can.
If not use the most powerful machine you have to play/serve from.

For Counter-Strike Linux would be the best, but I have never played any other games on a Linux server, not that I know of.

windows 2000 server.

I would go with a dedicated server on linux also, unless your game won't run a dedicated server on linux.

Yeah, different partitions. I would fdisk, set up partitions or even get another hard drive.. anyways have 2 partitions. install xp, then install linux w/ grub as the os loader.

Not that I know of... Just get a nice Linux Server dude. Te more people you want to play, the better the server needs to be.

If you want stability go for Linux but make sure the game you are playing is dedicated.

You may want to go with a MWin 2000 or XP Machine for ease of setup and crap like that.
