I'm putting a cold blue cathod some place, but I can't decide the best place to stick it - top, bottom, front - where's best?

lol, i think you meant to say "blue cold cathode"
mine is right under my window on the side of my case, i can't see it but it nicely illuminates my whole case

LOL. i thought i was going to read about something else with the type of title this thread has. anyways. yeah, place it on the bottom. the trick is to high the cathode yet light up the case nicely.

I hate cases with a window already in it... where's the fun?

Okay, I'll stick my cold blue cathod  on the bottom.
Yea, I know real modders frown on the windowed systems. This is my dream system I'm building. I've got a look in mind for it. I'm more interested in building that look than doing a mod. I guess we all have different goals.

I'll admit it, i sometimes look at my window jobs and wish they were all fancy with no flaws like the pre-modded ones, i just love doing all of the mods and i love knowing i did it myself.
but man, that is a nice fancy case, I wouldn't mind owning it myself. Where did you get it and how much did it cost you?

Thanks, I got the case at http://www.directron.com/201tblk.html for $146.00. It's all aluminum with widows on both sides and the top. The motherboard tray slides out of the box for ease of install. It has 5 case fans included with gold grills. Front USB and firewire ports. Plenty of space for drives: 4 x 5.25" + 3 x 3.5" opening bays and 5 x 3.5" hidden bays for HDD. This case is much more beautiful seen in real life than the pics can show.
I'm building the system a little at a time. So far, I have a bright red 400W PS and the P4X400 Dragon Ultra Platinum motherboard (Computer Shopper's Mobo of the Year last year).

I plan on putting in yellow rounded IDE and floppy cables.
I'm in no hurry. My current 700Mhz system is tooling along okay, but as soon as the 3.06MHz P4's drop in price, this baby is coming to life.
I may change the mobo though, as I've heard rumors that the VIA chipset, P4X400, is having stuttering issues with AGP 8X, and I'm planning on putting in an ATI 9700 Pro. Although, there will probably not be any games that can take advantage of AGP 8X until like a year from now. So, I may give it a shot with this one.
