Question If I make a window and all that and get a blue cold cathode, (think they're cool) or a black light or whatever, would I have to wire the light onto the mobo or do they plug into some pins or what?

mine is sound activated and here is how it works...

the cold cathode (CC) is under my window, a wire goes up from there into my cd-rom rack where it sits behind a drive cover, that plugs into a blue box (the sound activated reciver), then that has a wire that connects to the control switch which is mounted on the drive cover that hides the receiver, and from that there is a 4-pin connector which goes straight to the power supply.

it sounds sorta complicated but it really isn't. The things plug into each other and then it's just one connector that goes to the PSU. Sorta like a case fan but 2 box's in the middle. but of course if yours isn't sound activated there will not be a receiver... that i know of.

a molex connector, like it plug straight into the power supply? I see one for 20$ but I don't really have 20 to spend...! Ha...

yes, 4-pin molex connector, sorry.

I got mine here: http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/merchant....ct_Code=PC82480 (http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=120199&Product_Code=PC82480)

I love it. It's 12 inches and the settings on the control thing are: off/on/sound activated/flash, and then there is a sensitivity knob too.

you can pick up a cheap light at walmart etc... for 10$. Then get a molex connector and wire it in place of the cigarette lighter adapter. They are designed to run on 12VDC. The Yellow wire from the power supply is 12VDC, the Black is Negative. Molex connector you might have laying around if not you can get a splitter from a computer store that will have wires attached for a couple bucks.

The red wire is a ground wire correct?
and what does a ground wire actually do?

black is ground, red is +5v.

I've get endless supplies of AT power supplys in the basement, 15-20 probably same with printers...

But I woulnd't know where to start, I'm think about all kinds of stuff, lights, window, painting my case, and then the cost involved and the work time and tools required

I want to stealth my drive but we got the computer I'm using from the store, mine is in my basement room lying around.

check out www.allelectronics.com they've got cold cathodes, you can pick up 2 lights and a 12V inverter for ~$10-15.

i should note most of their lights are pulled from LCD backlights, so they're semi-used.

eBay.com I don't really like as much as straight up sites, mind you I'm not very old. I got a 6v UV light I think from a shop downtown for 1.00 and I want to hook it upto inside the case, but I'm wondering what heat it will throw and how to make it work. 6v dc (4AA batteries).

Check out ebuyer.com.
I got a blue light kit complete with switch and everything needed for $6.94. Plus Shipping I got other stuff too for a reasonable cost.
I think this site is relatively new and I don't know how long the special pricing will last.

it appears its just the cold cathode light, do you get the swtich and stuff with it?

:Edit: they must be really new, because theres 199 blue cold cathodes and the one you bought must have been the one (200-199)

do you get an inverter and stuff so you can hook it up to your power supply, like the inverter/molex and stuff?
