Very Nice! And welcome to the forms :) . This project is very creative, and you did a good job at making it still look like a toaster! Got some ideas and questions though! I think it would be cool to get some red lighting in there, coming up through the slots...keep that toaster feeling going. It would be really simple with either LEDs or EL wire. Also, do the controls on the front do anything? If not, I would make the things you push to put the toast in, be the power and reset (you would have to work on making them spring back up automatically after being pressed). The buttons could be lights and fans! The selector switches....I'm out of ideas, but I'm sure there is something you could do! GOOD JOB!

I don't mean to point the finger but you guys keep linking to casemodgod and that is the exact same toaster. Either A. You guys are pointing him at his own project, or B. Its not his project... I don't claim to know which. But it IS the same toaster. Thats all.

Wow, thanks for defending me!
Sacul, Don't hate me 'cause I'm popular!
really though, thanks for watching out for me and Sacul, thanks for pointing out that people do steal and claim credit for mods that are not theirs. As for the toaster, it is sitting on my kitchen counter right now.

The toaster was $35 from Wal Mart, brand new. I felt bad just ripping into a totally brand new product, so I made 2 pieces of toast in it first. It did a pretty good job as a toaster before I killed it and modded my computer inside of it.

Looks great. But how well does it make toast?

Love the toaster - very good fit and finish.
The only suggestion I would make is putting some black wire mesh in the bread slots so that you can't see the insides and as previously mentioned red lighting to keep the whole toaster illusion alive.

Definately needs a slot load CD rom and make the other slots glow or something but thats pretty cool.

It does not have a slot load CD drive. When I built the toaster I could not see spending an extra $260 on a slot load drive. So I purchased a slim line DVD drive. It is on the far left in the pictures and comes out through the toast slot. If the slot load drives drop in price perhaps I will upgrade!
Also, I have recently purchased some EL tape that I am going to fit into the toaster as well. It's just one of those things. Now that the mod is done taking time to mod it futher is hard to find.

Ok I'm stuck...
I would like to be able to travel through time. I have the DeLorean but I lack the flux capacitor. Does it run on AC or DC?

Actually I believe that was Huey Lewis and The News, but AC/DC's ok.
I'm pretty sure it ran on trash...

It's the gyration keyboard and wireless mouse. The mouse has gyroscopes in it (hence gyration) and can be used in the air (not on a table) by just moving your wrist. Very cool and very long range, about 25 ft I believe.
And yes, I got red EL tape, although it looks a little on the orange side, but that is even better!
