command and conquer generals and gamedrive

i have a gamedrive that lets me load the game on a virtual drive so i can play the game without the cd. i have the latest version of gamedrive 7.04 and i have lots of new and old games on the virtual drive that work fine. i`m having trouble starting command and conquer generals. i`ve tried everything the manual suggested and it doesn`t start. is there anyone out there that knows what i`m talking about? :?:

i dont even know what a gamedriver is!!
it could be that CCG looks for a CD when it starts and since it does not find one then . . . youll just have to use the CD

Have you tried using Daemon Tools? Thats what I use and it works fine.

lem6687, i don`t know what daemon tools is or where i can get it. could you explain a little more. thanks!

Is it an image? or is just something, daemon tools works well, I don't use it though, lack of need. Nero Image driver works for images and such.

Yea u need an image of the cd to play the game. Daemon tools is very similar to whatever you use...creates a virtual drive....

I downloaded a no cd file from a google search and it runs. Only problem is the only units i see on screen are just the color outline of my tema ie red green. It might be cause my pc is pretty low end barely meeting requirments but jeez if thats the case it shouldnt even be listed as required. anyone else have this problem?

I have both and the game loads fine with out any problems. Maybe it is the shortcut setting for the game. I don't use them. Or it could be you do not have enough ram. I have 1gb of pc 2100 ddr ram. everything works great. :roll:

micahdg... how do i change the shortcut settings? i have plenty of ram. when the game tries to load the command and conquer generals screen comes up (like it`s going to start) then it dissappears and nothing happens. and i get no errors.

You might want to check http://www.gamecopyworld.com to see if they have a no-cd crack for the game. They did for UT2003 and several games I play.
