I was wondering if anyone has attempted a laptop mod. I did.
I took my old 486 laptop and cut a hole above the keyboard exposing the processor (wish I had pictures)
I put a green LED in there so it glows through the hole on the processor it looks really cool.
(this processor has/needs no heatsink so it shines right on the exposed processor)
I had a huge problem which lead to the death of this laptop. I couldn't find anywhere to attach the LED to so I decided to use the 5v on the hard drive connector. ....... Long story short it was great but after a while of bouncing around in my bag the wires crossed and fried the motherboard and hard drive the next time it turned on. (I just looped the wire around the connector pins... maybe I should have soldered :) )
