i am ordering a new computer for my office and have a choice of getting XP Pro or 2000 Pro. what are the differences :?: we have a dinky peer to peer network (no server) so i shouldnt have any problems there with either version.
microsofts website dosent really give me a whole lot of info on my question to make a decent decision. one thing i do know is that 2000 has (had) a few compatability issues with some software and hardware. i dont know the current "real world usage" status of such issues though.
any input from my fellow geeknoids will be greatly appreciated.
for what its worth:
i have found the most unbeatable security device for our "always on" cable modem here at the office. no hacker in the world can get around this!!!! (if its used) i got a bunch of switches that i have spliced into the network cables at each station. when a network/internet connection is not required we simply turn the mo-fo off physically! and for incentive to use the switch the owner of our co. will send ya boootay home for a day without pay ifin ya forget.....2 months so far and nobody has yet to leave a connection open when not needed. amazing what a $6.00 switch and 10 min. of labor can do eh? :D
