Notice how he adds the part GAME. Yes that is correct a GAME. I myself CANNOT stand counter-strike because you have to wait when you die and its not fast pace enough. I myself play TFC/NeoTF www.neo-tf.com (http://www.neo-tf.com). Fun game and the speed and skill it takes is just right. I dont think that CS is very realistic either, I think its very boring. That is one game I where I could understand how some people cheat... it probably makes it more fun. I could come up with a much better arguement, but most of the people I know that play CS usually dont like trying other games like BF1942 for example which is WAY better than counter-strike.

As far as the "UT vs CS" debate, that's a simple one. It's a matter of preference.

Yes, the models in CS are becoming a bit antiquated. However, in all fairness, 100% of all games ever made (or ever going to be made) will also suffer this fate. For the record, I still have DoomII somewhere. Occasionally, I dust it off, for nostalgia's sake. (Oh, and I own an Atari 2600 and a "pong" console too) UT will become antiquated too. Thankfully, both UT and CS are slated for newer versions in the future, so this is a moot point.

The debate as to which game is better is srictly opinion. UT, Quake, and even SOF online are all of the "twitch-o-vision" genre. This is what makes me prefer CS: The realism factor. When you're being riddled with bullets from an AK, you SLOW DOWN. That, and you can't sidestep a rocket launcher. I might point out, however, that CS is the most WIDELY played online game, even beating out EverQuest. This is fact. I might also point out that comparing sales is moot as well. CS is a free mod.

On the subject of cheaters: I remember having a hard time finding a game of Starcraft, CS, or for that matter, anything without playing against a cheater. You simply cannot judge a game by the cheaters that play it. Starcraft, for example, is one of the finest games ever made. (It's still revered as one of the best LAN party games around) This is true regardless of how fair some people decide to play.

Yes, CS Retail sux ass, but the MOD of CS is good cuz its free, I myself would have been dissapointed if i bought CS Retail, but i bought Half-Life about 2 years ago, and I love the single player, DoD and CS rox beacuase its free. Case closed, UT2003 = Best new FPS, CS = Best Classic FPS.

I don't think you could say which is better. Even though they're all FPS, they are really different. I play CS more than BF1942 but that's not because it's "better than BF. Just that I don't always have the time to sit through a good BF game (they tend to be long).

In short, I think it's good to play a variety of games, even if it's in the same genre like first-person-shooters. They're all good for their own reasons. I like BF cuz it takes more strategy, and has more realistic options (e.g. jumping into a jeep and running down the enemy lol). But I also like CS because a lot of people play it. It doesn't take a really good comp, and doesn't take a lot of time to go through many games.

As for CS cheaters, I agree with others that there will be cheaters in any game. And playing with cheaters is never fun. But that shouldn't be linked to how good a game is.

TFC and Unreal require very little skill. There is no insentive to stay alive because you auto spawn. CS u need skill to both kill and stay alive.

I play CS, and I love cs. Not a day goes by when I don't play for hours on end. But the CS all of you people dislike is the bad end of CS. If you get experienced, and play in the right places, CS isn't as lame as you think. The big differnece between UT2003 and CS (gameplay) is that 2003 is fun right out of the box, and CS actually takes a lot of experience before you really have fun(which isn't necessarily a good thing). Also, I don't think of the game as slow or boring, I just think that you have to be patient to be successful.

If you're talking graphics or performance, UT2003 wins hands down. But as to which game is "better", well thats up to you to decide.

I play CS, i love CS. but I also love UT. Like somone said, the only reason i started CS was because that was the only thing my comp can handle and it DOES get better over time. when you get good at it, you rarely find yourself sitting waiting for the game to restart. Like someone else said, the thing about UT is that you dont need to stay alive, you can go kamikaze on someone, die, and then find all the weapons you dropped in 30seconds. Its very unrealistic but then again, thats what a lot of games are supposed to be like. CS is a simulation and realitygamers love it because of that and Unreal is an imagination game and a lot of people love it for that. If your just looking to play something real quick for about 5-10minutes, then unreal is ur game, if u wanna play a real long LAN party, then CS is your game..it IS a matter of preference....

Speaking of Xbox, CS was supposed to come out for xbox, does anyone know if it actually did or ever will???
