FIC ICE-CUBE just arrived and it looks pretty cool out of the box
but being a modder I can't just leave it as is (just wouldn't be right!)

I'm going to order a P4 2.8 800MHz chip, Hardrive, Ram.
While I'm waiting for the parts I want to do some type of mod to this case.

I'm kind of stuck on just what to do. Stealthing the drives is a must.
This case is covered completely in Plexiglas so I was thinking a
custom paint job would look extremely deep wrapped in the plexi.

Maybe a Candy, Pearl or Metal Flake job Is where I'm leaning (inside also)

Any modding suggestions ?

The 800MHz FSB VL67 like this is $246 @ Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=56-101-444&depa=0)
Pretty powerful for a small system and competitively priced to a regular desktop.
Add CPU, RAM, Hardrive and your done.

The 533MHz FSB is exactly like it... I think is $200

I thought of that... but it would bust the budget for this project.

I'm curious on what the temps will be.

Water may happen down the road (may have to sell some blood first) J/K

any custom paint shop should be able to do this. I say make them mix metal flakes with a blue-violet color. Maybe even a fade from violet+flakes in the back to a blue+flakes in the front.

Just a suggestion. :)

How would one go about finding a painter that could paint a computer

You know... with the shiny stuff that you could read a newspaper in?

Red I think with your skillz
you could handle doing that.
I agree with bodydrop on the color.
You could try painting the inside of
the plexy, like the guy on TSS
tonight, it will will shine more &
keep it from getting scratched.
You could drill holes in it, like you
did your other one. Only do it in
some kind of design/picture.
Just some thoughts.

I'm sorry Jamm I was just being facetious (again)

Thirty years of Custom Painting Automobiles, 18 Wheelers, Motorcycles, Helicopters etc.
One wouldn't be to presumptive to surmise that this would fall into my can do (http://installers.mystarband.net/buff5.jpg) category. LoL

Spraying right on the plexi's backside would not be to good an idea. (in my situation)
There will be problems of bonding to that super slick surface
and most paints today are two or three step systems. So instead of
seeing the last build top-coat you would see only the paint systems first stage.
To show all the stages you would have to spray the outside of the plexi
and that would defeat the purpose, remember you want the plexi to act only as a deep protective clear coat.

My thinking is : Remove plexi, paint the case underneath and remount the plexi back on the case over the color.

True. I had not thoought
of that.
I''m not sure how the guy on TSS
did it, but it did look good.
I think he said that it was "flat"
but when you looked at it through
the plexy it really shined.
I'm sorry Jamm I was just being facetious (again)
You? Never. ;)

It would only take literally just that, finding the painter to paint computer cases. other than that it's in the bag.

So red have you got any updates for this prodject yet? Just curious and anxious to see the outcome of this prodject.

No updates as of yet.

I'm going to concentrate on the Chieftech Mod for now and hope to get it cut
and primed this weekend. The Ice-Cube is shelved until I can get caught up.

Thanks for your interest...
I will update as soon as I get started.

It might be kind of unoriginal but I'm thinking some kind of UV paint scheme with a top blowhole and UV fan grill.

Just my $.02. :P
