Ok so i decided to start modding my first idea was to just do a simple case mod to my original case. But i decided that was to easy and i realy diden't want to destory a perfectly good case. So i am turrning a old Karaoke player into a PC. I'm allready figureing out that its going to be a close fit. Pics to come

Sounds like a great first project. Try to take pics as you go along so we can see all the hard work you put into it.

Since i took this picture i have take out most ot the un-needed componets. I found a place for my fan. I decided to put it in place of the old speaker that was there. Thats about as far as i have gotten.

Looks like a nice mod going there!
The Mobo is an older one...
How fast is she going to run?
Anyway cool looking project Citori ;)
cool idea. WOW, talk about legacy hardware, ISA slots :) Make it really retro and get some ISA cards for it. That would make a nice little Smoothwall box.

It would at that!
Also it would make a sweet little portable MP3 player with the handle and built in speakers.

Ya, its a old Pentium 233MHz, 150 MB of ram. It's not much.
I've been working and I am running out of space fast. I'm thinking that I'm going to use a Zip drive instead of a CD drive. and only use one hard drive and possibly a Floppy. Just that and the Mobo has it filled up pretty full. I'm not sure how I'm going to put in a power supply yet  . Any suggestions?
Perhaps if you just use a HDD and a CD just to load all the software you need, the remove it all together? The any time you need to install or what ever just do it over telnet.
As for the PSU perhaps get one of those nice little PSUs that are all the rage these days.

I think I’ll try that. If I take Zip and floppy out I may be able to put in the original power supply. I'll see if it works.

Yea you could just lay a CD Rom to the side while installing the OS.
Then remove the CD altogether and do any file transfers via a cat5 network
cable to your main rig. Thats how I move files to all my machines... It's
fast and no need to pop in 20 CDs of MP3s.
To bad that legacy board doesn't have USB support... an external USB CD drive would be...

i would've left the speaker in and rigged it to the audio out
While I agree, it's just too perfect for a fan.

My MOBO does have USB 1.1 in it.

I had thought about using the speaker but then where would I mount the fan?

You may not even need a fan.
A few vents drilled in the back will probably be sufficient.
Try to leave the speaker intact and a fan if needed can always be installed.
I doubt that early board will generate a lot of heat anyway.

I'm curious, though, wouldn't you have to worry about the speaker magnet damaging the hard drive?
Speaking of old hardware, I finally found my Texas Instruments TI-99/4A system, and my Timex Sinclair 1000. Now, if only I could find my monitor cable for the TI.

I've thought about that and I'm going to mount the HD as far away as possible. I'm going to have to get a smaller PSU though there's no way that I can find to make the original fit. I'm going to try to find a cheep one. Any Suggestions?

You could take the PSU apart for extra clearance.
That said you better know that the capictors can
knock you down or worse, they are charged even
with the unit unpluged.

I cut out a piece of the edge for the mobo to fit in. (I didn't have a Mt Dew can laying around)
