If you do what do you think about it? I just recently got digital cable, and its strange to see a tv channel committed to just video games! lol some of the shows they have on are cracked. Like the one where they do voiceovers over characters from games in action to make a story.

I don't even like what they did with the only show to survive the massacre. I'm surprised Adam and Morgan haven't jumped ship or slit their wrists yet.

Oh, and for future reference SLick1 - around these parts we don't take too kindly to the resurrection of 3 year old threads unless you have something of value to contribute.

I have the channel but don't watch it. Who wants to watch other people play video games on TV? Also, you can get game reviews easier on the net.

im not even gonna talk about G4 for a good reason.

I took a vote of no confidence and a vow of silence on the matter.

G4 has to be the cheapest network on tv.
There are only 3 original shows, attack of the show (formerly the screen savers), X-play, and cheat.
the first two came from the G4 Tech TV merger.
Even Cartoon Network has more original programming, and unlike G4, some of it is actually good.

I miss TSS, the original Call for Help, Fresh Gear and Tech Live. I think the death blow came when they decided to compete against SpikeTV rather than be a unique entity.

I'm wondering how things are going to change when they relocate to their new studio space.

I gave up on G4 a year and a half ago, when they basically eliminated anything that resembled Tech. Now I download Call for Help Canada, watch DL.TV, Cranky Geeks, TechCentric, and anything else I can find out here. Ocassionally I go find an old Screen Savers episode and remember the good ole days.

It just goes to show that people who don't understand gamers will never be able to speak to gamers. So the people who hold the purse strings over G4 brought it close to death, decided to buy a successful channel to reinvigorate their own and then quickly killed both off.

Even as an avid gamer I'm only slightly interested in watching a gaming channel. Now, if they actually had some talented people running some intelligent shows (look to the shows listed as KIA from TechTV for examples)... Basically, I'm sure we all want our old TechTV back. Though I'm sure that the people we loved the most have a sour taste in their mouths and would be hard to persuade to return. A petition would be pointless, though I've considered petitioning G4 to just accept defeat and go off air.

Good luck. In my life I have found that if someone travels in the wrong direction for too long, they are more likely to put down roots and defend their mistakes rather than walk back to a better path. G4 is done, and only a loss of advertisment revenue is kill it. Luckily, TechTv is alive in that it spawned a whole universe of video web content. Without that year that marked the death of TSS and the slow death of AOTS I wouldn't have been motivated to look for content elsewhere. And from where I sit now, it turned out to be a good thing.

The only thing worth watching on that channel (whose name I refuse to speak) is Star Trek, and they have even ruined that with the Star Trek 2.0 crap.

I quit watching G4 the day the last episode of TSS aired. To be honest, I knew everything was going downhill as soon as everything moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and the fact that TSS was hosted on a set from Sesame Street only added to it. (The first two set designs, "basement" and "industrial park" were emphasis on the "underground" nature they took on the show...bright colors and Sesame Street broke it for me.)

Additionally, I enjoyed seeing Yoshi on there...and after the network merger I didn't get to see him all that much... :( (No, I don't mean to suck up - it's just the truth.)

I agree with Brian's statement that G4 won't quit until they have no income. However, perhaps it is in the advertisers' best interests to do some market research, realize G4 is a sinking ship, and pull the plug. There are much more suitable outlets to put money and support. (*cough* (http://www.techcentric.org))

Perhaps the only good thing to come out of the switch to LA was the Alex/Kevin poll where they asked if Macs or PCs were better to use and Alex won the chance to smash up Kevin's Mac as a result. (Side Note: Maybe the fact that it was a Power Mac G4 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Mac_G4) was the sign that everything was falling apart. ;) ) By the way, here (http://www.infectiousvideos.com/index.php?p=showvid&sid=0948&a=playvid&cr=rpanel)'s the video of that if you didn't see it.

i see kids acting liek they are hackers or gamers all the time...they of course start talking about AOTS and well this is the incuring conversation...

"hey scripkiddie come here...do you know what linux is"
"yeah its an os"
"uhhuh...ok well a quick question...since your a true hacker...whats WEP"
they generally say some dumb abreviation and i laugh and my friends and i walk off...of course they dont get it...and beyond my friend john and i no one else gets it...but oh well...i think G4 is responsible for the lack of tech knowladge in our society today...atleast the screensavers provided something useful

i don't mean to say you're wrong, I hate G4 too, but they aren't gonna run out of revenue any time soon.
They only have 4 shows that they still make themselves.
Attack Of the Show has about 7 or 8 hosts.
X-play has 2.
Cheat has 1.
Electronic Playground has about 5 ( I think...i don't even know if they still make it)
The latter 3 can be shot with the same film crew, and AOTS is life.
That's about 14 hosts they have to pay, 2 film crews, a webmaster, and a crew for Cinamatech.
That's a cheap network.

very true...but it honestly doesnt matter how little they pay a few people...if no one watches the network

Down here we got probably two months of Tech TV before it all mysteriously started turning into repeats, a few months later Foxtel announcing the death of the station. Then a few months down the line Call for Help and TSS appeared on the How-to channel, new eps except Leo was in Canada and TSS had been reduced to two veterans and one new dipsh*t hosting it. Call for Help blossomed but after the latest AOTS set change, it becoming some poor attempt to be a hip version of Entertainment Tonight, how-to canned it and I applauded their decision after watching as Kevin Rose gritted his teeth for several months before finally quitting.
We recently started getting X-Play again and I must say, despite the begrudged plugging of other programs, the show is still pretty good.

The first two set designs, "basement" and "industrial park" were emphasis on the "underground" nature they took on the show...

When I first discovered TechTV, it was back in the days when TSS did the 90 minute show and had the "garage" look to the studio. I really liked the "unpolished" look back then, and it didn't draw away from the quality of the discussions and content.

I was fortunate enough to be in the audience during the taping of one of the shows a couple months before the whole thing moved to LaLa land. 'Twas a good show, but it's gone now. Just like Firefly, if it's a good show that I like, it'll get the axe.

G4 sucks..now what it was before G4 was awesome. The stuff they have on now (with exception to maybe one or two shows) is junk. "Tech Tv" , as it use to be, featured screen savers with actual computer folk and not hired actors who can read computer lingo on a que card - and one of the best things about it was Yoshi...you know...yoshi as in yoshi.us/forums web master..either way, done w/ the rant. Just know, that the G4 Tv you watch today is crap compared to what it was before G4 came into town.
