Is there a way to have Outlook Express not automatically download the messages if I do not want to view them (like the way hotmail is set up)? The reason I ask is I am being bombarded with viruses and every time I open my mail my system becomes unstable and norton pops up later with on average about six viruses deleted...
Thanx,
Alex

so you mean upon boot-up of the PC? if so, take it out of msconfig.

or the startup folder.

are u talking about the preview window or downloading them off the server? If u mean downloading the server, all u can do is tell it to keep a cpoy on the server (as far as i Know) but u can't prevent them from downloading. Hope that helped (prob didn't)

first of all FGS turn the preview pane off! (go to view, then to layout then uncheck preview pane.) Then configure the send/recieve (go to tools, then to options, then uncheck the "check for messages at startup" , also if you don't want it to check for messages automatically then uncheck the "check for messages every----- minutes" tab) I hope this helps
