ok well i know i think of a lot of ideas but this one isnt hard to hard at least
well maybe you guys rember the case i painted well i am going to get it out of the closetn for real and work on it i am pretty sure i can do this becasue i have most of the parts.

Things to do
First sand off all paint :( (oh who cares it was cheap)
then i am going to bondo up all of the extra holes on the metal face i am leaving off the plastic one
take out old case window
install case windows one on side one on top and one by the hard drives
paint it too look like copper (i need good paint brands people)
take out old hard drive rack and add in one that is turned.
if i figured out how i will do the power cables like redxray does

also some of these ideas i got from red xrays mod i hope he doesnt care

ill make this easier to read when i get some sleep

ok so far i have removed the stock hard drive and cdrom holders the cdrom one is going back in but it needs to be welded on for the new hard drive rack i am putting in

i also have about half of it sanding down nicd and smotth i am going to get it really good before i post pics

dworld

Here is what i plan to do with the front cover on the before part there actualy is a bunch of holes i got tired of drawing and didnt put them in but they willl be removed they are just scatred around. Maybe latter ill draw them in to give you a better idea.

http://www.dworld.us/banda.JPG

as you see in the first pic i have 4 bays for cdroms and 2 for the smaller drives in the second one i cut down the number of cdroms to 2 and got rid of the smaller ones

yoinky doinky
06-28-2004, 10:40 AM
very nice...but why are you gettin rid of the drives?

ety
06-28-2004, 10:45 AM
I don't know if this is his reason but you might not want any 3.5" bays for evil little floppys.

dworld
06-28-2004, 10:50 AM
yea and i am going to only need 2 cdroms and i am going to leave the metal piece exposed so i want it to look nice

yoinky doinky
06-28-2004, 10:50 AM
ya of course....but hes chunkin 2 of the cdroms.....eh

Of course, nobody makes a decent copper paint... or any other metal color for that matter.

yoinky doinky

he could mix his own...get some yellows and stuff...be kinda hard to do it without a mixer but it could work

well now i am thinking after i get it smooth i might keep it silver if i can get it nice and shiny and just put a few coats of clear coat

dworld
06-28-2004, 04:16 PM
well if i cant get good copper paint i want a paint that is silver or gray that is really shingy

[GF]Zenix
06-28-2004, 04:51 PM
do u have a local paint shop
see if they can mix you up some paint

merlinicorpus
06-28-2004, 05:08 PM
Your best bet for a shiny silver would just be a grey with some metalic flake in it. You can't paint any metal color and make it look right.

If you like the texture, you could laminate your case with an architectural product like this:
http://208.245.181.35/cgi-bin/worderc?confc=B2C
They also have a line of plastic embossed sheets that look like metal, which they were advertising in a woodworking magazine. I went to the site looking for them, but the site is under construction and I couldn't find them.

Your probably pressing to hard and trying to make too deep of a cut. Try a lighter approach, you might have to go over 3 times but it will all be good.

well i priced copper foil for awhile and saw it was expensive so i ran up to the convience store and bought me some aluminum foil

Lockblade
07-01-2004, 05:30 PM
You know how hard aluminum foil is to get perfect? Maybe I am thinking of the wrong stuff, but isn't the aluminum foil you're talking about for cooking and the likes? Well, if you are, just bondo onside and then lay it flat on what ever you are gluing it to. then take a pensil eraser to it and smooth out the WHOLE thing. Then bondo it all up. I'd double or triple layer though. (Wow, the things you learn by making aluminum foil boats  )

Most people will point you to Danger Den products for water cooling. They are great but it can be hard for a first timer to assemble a good kit. I looked at the kits around recently and the one that I really like and just ordered the other day is made by Asetek Waterchill. It's their antarctia water block, video card, and chipset kit. It's a complete kit that includes everything you need to get started, just add distilled water and your done. It seems easy enough to set up. Hopefully I'll have mine in a week or so. Not sure when I'll be installing it as I have other mods to do on my case. Still toying with ideas and there is lots of work for me to do. Good luck with your mod.

here is a pic of the box for the kit, I got the one with the single radiator, this one has a double radiator. The double is better if you have room for it in your case but due to space I went with the single kit.

Don't give up man. I am interested in seeing how it will turn out. What you have done so far looks really good. It is definately original. For the PSU why not use some flexible electrical conduit to route the wire through. I think the finish on the conduit would look real good with the foil you used. Tis an idea???
