Right now I am at 1.61. My psu and ram are holding me back. Pc2100, and a 300watt antec psu. I haven't unlocked my cpu yet. Oh and it's an xp1700+. :D

2016 mhz...(192x10.5) on my xp1600 with aircooling..sure it took 2vcore...but hey, temps never went over 45c...too bad my psu doesnt give enough power...it would get down to around 4.6v on the 5v line at full load..i dont want that....near 50% overclock isnt bad with air cooling...

Is that possible? Air cooling with a 2.0v core?

My best so far was done with my old 1.1 T-Bird(R.I.P.) I was able to push it to 1610 at 1.85 Vcore and a MC462 and 80mm 80CFM Delta.

What heatsink did you use RangerJoe? I got my XP 1600+ to 1876 on air cooling. I got the fsb to 190 and unlocked it.

I'm running a K7S5A so i can only change my FSB but I run my 1600 at 1575Mhz with stock voltage 100% stable, I can post at 1743 (10.5 x 166)at stock voltage but it freezes just after the ram test.

My best is 1671. My ram is a bottle neck right now, because I tried a friends corsair 2100 and I could go higher with it.

JDXNC, what software or bios are you runnin' to set your FSB? I am using SetFSB 1.4a. Anyone got a newer version? The max I can get on my K7S5A is 146.6 FSB. I tried the bios at overclockers forum, but can't even get that high of an FSB. Oh well, time to change mobo's. Gonna look at the P4PE, heard it is pretty good.

I'm using the OC workbench Cheapo Bios at 150Mhz FSB, I tried SoftFSB but never got good results from it. What sort of PSU do you have? The K7S5A is a power hog and needs quite a bit of juice to OC well. I just got this 1600+ about 2 weeks ago, before that I had a 1Ghz Duron which ran for over a year at 1.24Ghz at 124MHz FSB.

JDXNC
12-10-2002, 12:31 PM
Oh, and from what I see SoftFSB has been discontinued. The OC bios gave me much better results anyway. If you're getting a new mobo you should try the volt mod on your k7s5a.

Man, I can see so many 120mm fans on these cpu heatsinks. I can already hear, or rather, not hear everything. My personal best is 1.5 on an xp1700+. But then again, I'm not really trying..

mine is a 667 Celery running at 900 MHz with aircooling. anything above that makes it think booting is a very bad idea. my average temperature is around 82°.

I best one I ever got is my old 486 DX Overdrive 75 to run at 150MHz, the benchmarks say it is running at 190-200MHz but according to the multiplier and bus it should be 150MHz. I don't usually overclock my new chips but my P4 2.4GHz goes to 2.7 with stock cooling and no voltage change.

My personal best to date is an (AMD) 1.133 @ 160 running a stable 1.800, all I used for cooling were seven 80.mm case fans. it was LOUD but it ran fantastic.

ahh my current cpu is a 2100 tbred b and it hits 2517mhz on air at 2.2vcore @ about 41*c.. and thats stable. i like to keep it at about 2100-2200mhz on stock voltage for low temps.

I'm still running my P4-1.8A at 2.7GHz (150FSB). It's using the stock intel cooler on an Asus P4B533 mobo. I can get win2k to boot at up to 155FSB, at 160, it either doesn't detect the HD, or BSODs. Too bad, it craps out at 2.9. 3.0GHz would be wonderful.

edit: I run F@H 24/7, I allow it to use 95% of my CPU, and at that 95%, it averages 46°C. At full load, 100%, it runs at around 50°C. Strange how that last 5% of CPU usage makes such a big difference.

the voltage is currently 1.575V. at 2.4GHz I only need 1.525V.
