Make sure you've named each computer and designated the workgroup for each. Also in the network properties make sure TCP/IP proticall is installed. I forget how to get into all of this in Win9x and ME off the top of my head since I use XP and it's a bit diff. I'll give you a link with everything you need to know so that this post doesn't get too long. It has pics and tells you what you'll need for 9x.

Internet connection sharing can be a bit of a pain to set up. I did bout 5 times with both machines running 98se. You have to go to the add/remove windows components or something like that and under internet (might be something different) and make sure that there is a check mark in internet connection sharing. That is all i can remember since now both machines run xp pro and all you have to do is plug the cable in and then open a wizard that sets everything up for you. All i remember that with win 98se setting up internet connection sharing is a pain.

I hear you; it was so horrible setting up. I finally got it to work. Every time I ran the ics wizard it would screw up my network configuration. What I did was installed ics and didn’t run the ics wizard and set the settings manually. And it worked
