Ok. to get the extra buttons on the Logitech 500/700 mouse for "program specific"
(XP)

-Remove the software/mouse that is installed now:
-Then shutdown PC
-Then you HAVE to use the USB-PS2 connection (it only works with PS2): http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/pc/docs/article/990901/ms7_2.jpg
-Then boot back up. Windows will say "found new hardware..it will install its own crap.. then ask you to re-boot. DO NOT reboot.
-install the MS intellimouse exploror 3.0 (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouse/download.asp)software. (its about the 6th one down)

it took me a few tries to get it to work.. but once it does.. its all good. You will have the TSR intelli in msconfig.. leave it. you can right-click on the icon next to the clock and say "hide"

If correctly installd, you will go to mouse properties and see the microsoft box: http://www.pcin.net/help/hardware/images/mswie/msiew_intellipointsoftware.gif

something similr to that... see that little box "Enable program specific.."? ahh yaaa....

then after check'n that.. go to settings.. and point it to the apps...

For instance: I can tell it large thumb= "Q" then go into RTCW and say "primary weapon= Q".. or in windows media player i can say "combo ENTER+P" ..witch for WMP =pause

GG

not ONLy is the the best mouse, but now that you can program those extra thumb buttons for any program.. its ow3nz.
