i did something like this at work today we pulled a notebook harddrive out and hooked it up as a slave in a desktop unit, i booted into safe mode then when to the properties of the file the customer needed and i was able to adjust and assign the owner of the fie and mess with the settings, it was the first time i had to do it so it took alot of tinkering but in the end I was able to get it.

after doing this reinstall a new xp on the 30gb harddrive.
dont install over old xp put new one on another partion.
after its installed when booting you should get a choice of
1.bla bla bla windows xp
2.bla bla bla os on hard drive.
choose win xp and files most likely there and put them on your new hard drive.i had to reinstall xp on my hdd when i switched motherboards and my old stuff was still on there.

well dude, you have to move the jumpers... the way i understood it was, they both had XP loaded.. so standalone they could work fine..right..?
