Battlefield is so new still, its hard to say thats the best. I was thinkin more along the lines of somthing everyone could play, compete, and have fun with. Plus it would be one of those cant put down titles.

1. NHLPA 93 for genesis. Possibly best sports title ever. Ill never forget that summer, whole house full for high school tournament. Big fight with Rck Tocchet (in Pens uni ) vs Bob Probert on the Hawks. It was like Street Fighter it went on for a good ten minutes. So good a game!

2. And Mario Bros. It just had a mistique coming out the box didnt it? First off it was the first game that came with ur machine so you were bound to play it. And has a better game ever came with ur console! Thats a new thread, hit that up next, Best games to ever come with ur console!

Personally, although I love just about every game I ever buy, my favourites are Command & COnquer Renegade and tribes 2, both games that many people don't play anymore, for which I can't quite understand why. They both have great graphics, and can easily handle quite a few of the current games.

The Original Unreal Tournament for sure. I remember playing it first at an arcade in some weird box thing. Ever since then (4 years ago) I've been playing the game religiously in clans and on public servers and what not. Good Stuff :)

It really all depends on the type of game. See the question has a million answers because it has to be narrowed down. You should have asked about a single genre of gaming. It also depends on the style of the person. Personally I love games for diferent reasons. I love ghost recon because it needs accuracy and strategy for a 1st person shooter. I like battlefield 1942 for the mayhem. I love red faction 1 for the multiplayer shootouts. But you can never have only one favorite if your a true gamer. The best of all time? Hell, I think I have like 10 of them!

Strategy: Civilization - the original, with the little icons for troops :lol:
FF Tactics - the best (in my opinion of course)

RTS: Command & Conquer Generals - US had uber units, but it was more fun being China with their accent and Dragon Tanks! Burn baby BURN

RPG: FF7 & FFX

MMORPG: Nexus The Kingdom of the Winds - you all prolly never even heard of it :wink: but I played it for close to 3 years before I cut the addiction

Sorry bro but that game is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over-rated. Personally I HATE FPS games on consoles b/c the controls never EVER seem to fel comfortable. The only exception to that rule I think tho is Metroid Prime. I think it's b/c the point of the game isn't to run around and shoot anything that moves. I'm sure this has been argued about many times, but Metroid Prime IS a first-person adventure.

Ok anyways...my favorite game? Anything MARIO!!! ...lol...lol...lol...how can you NOT like the Super Mario games from the NES, SNES, N64 and Gamecube...Miyamoto is a genius...PURE genius!!! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

best game ever made would have to be SUPER MARIO BROTHERS 3, followed up by such games as super mario brothers 1, GTA: Vice City, GTA3, and Sonic 2. games like Goldeneye, and Perfect Dark are also amazing (Perfect Dark is the better of the two, so far as multi-player goes), along with any Metroid game. but Counterstrike is over rated, along with many other online first person shooters, because there are only so many hours that you can spend lost on the computer patting yourself on the back for meaningless frags. i say pick up that cartridge of Super Mario Brothers 3 and play it twice, once with warp wistles, and once without. AND THATS THAT!

p.s. new games cant even come close to the excellence of classic games, like pong, possibly one of the best multiplayer games ever.

I'm really suprised how ive seen no ranting about how great Final Fantasy VII was. Great game. I'd have to say as far as FPS i go with the original UNREAL TOURNAMENT and Counterstrike..All Quake games are up there on my list, too. I like video games in general and its really hard to put my finger on just one, out of all the genre's out there. I'm also really partial to Dance Dance Revolution. So, if I had to pick one, I'd go for DDR. Such a hard decision though.

i loved ff7 (sephiroth remains the best bad guy in any videogame imo), but ff9 just barely inched it out for me.

and i'm sorry to let you guys know, but ffx is highly overrated. i just couldnt get into it. the bad guy (Sin) sucks horribly, the game feels really linear with the absence of a world map, and the characters are pretty lame. sorry.

and add goldeneye and perfect dark to my list of FPS's. they're excellent games and i even bust out the n64 every now and then and play it with friends. its still fun, and the n64 controller HAD to be made for that game. i can aim just as accurately on it as i can with a mouse and keyboard for FPS's on a pc.

*EDIT* and also, if i had to pick just one game...i think i'll go for MAFIA. so polished, so great, visually stunning, audibly stunning...i could go on and on.

then again, i start to think again and Metal Gear Solid creeps back up in my mind. so the truth is, i like WAY too many games to decide. it's just too tough. with all the crappy games in the world, theres 30x that of good games (if you include the stuff from the old-school consoles and etc.).

its just a tough question that i think everyone has a problem with as far as deciding their true favorite. i know i feel like i'm doing an injustice to all those great games that i cant put on that "#1 choice."

^_^ I'm a big fan of FFX, too. I beat that one. Loved it, and loved it. But I think I'm likeing FF7 even more...Anyways. Xenogears. I've heard great things about it, but I've never played it. I'll look into it in the future. It's related somehow to Xenosaga, right?

FFX too linear? Uh...hate to brake it to you but ALL the FF games are linear. Sure some of them have more side-missions then others, but they don't neccesarily add to the games final outcome.

Xenosaga and Xenogears are related, Gears is part 5 out of 6 and saga is part 1, Monolithsoft is redoing them all, because they feel they couldve done alot more with xenogears, really, Xenogears is the best RPG of all time IMO, but they didnt do it as well as they wanted to

I thought I had read something somewhere that said they couldn't officially say it was sequel since SquareSoft owns the rights to the Xenogears rights. Before half-life the only game that had actually scared me was quake, and no other game since has been able to get me to be scared. Even though its old the graphics still look awsome, and the HD pack makes it look even better. plus you get tfc, blue-shift, and opposing force.

oh yeah, and on the console, i love devil may cry 2, now if i can only get a working ps2 emulator so i can play my cd ;)

dmc2 is TERRIBLE. how in the world do you make one of the best action games EVER, and follow it up with one of the worst games in history. the new moves are cool, sure. but the level design (and the gameplay) is completely boring. those new moves are useless and make the game too easy. the first one had some challenge to it and was a hella cool game.
