Well.. obviously there is the OS. I personally own a PC with Win XP Pro... my communly used/like programs include AIM, Winamp, Adobe Photoshop, Outlook Express, Norton Antivirus, and Easy CD Creator 5 plat.
I am debating whether or not to go to Netscape or Mozilla (i personally like the tabbed design) instead of IE, also thinking about trying Trillian for my AIM, ICQ, and IRC needs.
But I usually sit here and stare blankly at my PC when I am online at 1-2 AM, cause I don't have anything fun/interesting to do on my PC, so my question is, what programs do you like/use a lot?

I use Trillian and it's a great program if you use all 4 chat platforms as well as IRC, In fact you can add multiple screen names on AIM and ICQ (not sure about Yahoo and MSN).
Other than Trillian, I use Nero, Winamp, Word, IE 6 but thinking about Mozilla, and since I'm on a cable connection I use ZoneAlarm. I also use Macromedia Dreamweaver to do all my Web Design.

as far as games go, get Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix, Unreal Tournament 2003 Return to Castle Wolfenstien, and Star Wars Jedi Knight 2
I use IE on my windows xp home machine (run windows update as often as possible) and i use Mozilla on my Redhat linux laptop
Office XP is great, all the programs are much closer intertwined. like say you were typing a letter or memo in MS Word, and you type in an email address or a mailing address, you can click on that, and automatically add it to your Outlook Contact list, and with dates you can add the date to your calendar. i use these features alot at work.
also, i am a graphic designer/web designer, so i use photoshop 7, Macromedia Studio MX (Flash and Dreamweaver MX ROCK!!), Illustrator 9.
for chatting Trillian is great, and for MP3 playback Winamp 2 is the best (winamp 3 kinda sucks) i use music match jukebox to rip mp3s.
and some other posts are right that Nero is much better than CD creator.

on Windows: Trillian Pro, mIRC, PuTTY, WinAmp, GrabIt, TimeClockEX, Atomic TimeSync, LeechFTP, Perl, probably more stuff i can't think of right now...
on Linux: screen, ircii, dircproxy, nmap, gaim, windowmaker, Perl, XMMS, mplayer, and again, probably more stuff i can't think of right now
anyway, go with Mozilla. last i heard, Netscape had spyware in it, and spyware's not cool. it should also be noted that i'm using Windows 2000, and i will never ever use XP.
