View Full Version : two little lights powered off of USB

ok i have these two little umm i forget what they are called but like lil lights that are ment to go on your monitor or pc and plug into your USB port so they light up. i put mine in my computer case and i was wondering how would i hook it up a to a molex?

i dont know if you can do it...usb contains two data lines within the cable (the white and green wires). The thing is, if those are somehow in use, i doubt they would be able to light.

USB carrys power Lupin. It enogh to run light ect but he wants to go USB to Moxlex.

yeah but if its usb the data lines MIGHT be used. go ahead and cut off the usb connect and connect the black wire with a black wire from a 4 pin molex and the red with the red of the molex. both are +5vx

theres no data.. just the power cuz theres like a little box that the two wires from each light go into and thats like where they connect to the usb n a switch
so just hook up the black molex to the black on the usb end and the red molex to the red usb end

yes resistors that was my ?... heres the lights lights (http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&u=c&catoid=-11241&qp=0&oid=75550&m=0)
and there are some resistors in there, the thing is is i dont need the sound activation so all i am going to want to do is just wire up an on off switch.. do i still need resistors?
