ALrighty then i have all the parts in now for my server and have the case planed but need some hlep gettin it 2 work. FIrst problem is i have one nic that didnt come with the smaller braket which fit perfect in case so should i just use another bracket and bend and cut it or what. here is the main idea for the arrangment.

Need some hlep puttin parts in right place im gona try 2 use L brackets on the one side to hold it still but where the cdrom ends there is 1 3/4 drop to bottom of case the mobo is sittin on a tray of plexi with standoffs but how will i hold the case up there cant find anything that spans 1 3/4. I was thinkin bendin a peice of aluminum to make one but i dont want to buy any Wood is another choice but in an electrical box wood come on. I have plans to attach everything else but the mobo. Oh yes and here is the case my little suprise.

Took some work cause it was sittin in a garage for oh 4 years in the rain so it was RLy rusted. Used a grinding wheel to get most the rust off (the rust there now is cause i havent worked on it in a while and need to prime it)and did some work on the medal. I know i need to prime the medal that is easy but what color should i paint it i was thinkin bout stayin with grey cause i want it to look like an electrical box but who knows. You may be askin what is he gona do for a lid well good question the old lid was a piece of rust basically so it was chuncked(by means of sittin in the garage) what i was planin on doin was getting some aluminum corner rod things then puttin plexi glass inside it(im sure it wasnt a very good description but u will c when i finsih it).

Here is all the componets im using in the case old stuff but working. 500 mhz amd somthin cpu ocable 2 550 but y. 152 megs of ram dont ask how 2 sticks not wasnt my comp so who knows. 3 and a 4 gig hard drive not alot but enough for a server. old cd rom drive (only puttin in there cause y not not like space was a problem)/ Ps out of its case (those cases take up way 2 much space) i think its 250 watts. The os im gona use dont know i want to run a tribes server on it(my router is hardware firewall so cant get through it(the setup will be between modem and router)i was going to put another nic in it to put another comp that woulndt be behind firewall.but no more pci slots and ica(think thats what it is) slots are 2 slow. Another question can i use this as a print server bein its between router and modem. IF not i can hook another comp up with a nic and use it.

Man that was alot of typin but i think that was eveything.

I was just thinkin bout this when i posted the page and i think im going to get a switch i alrdy have the router but a switch will let me run servers on any computer by settin it up with the software firewalll(much easier to change compared 2 a hardware firewall). I was thinkin maybe get 2 5 ports casue 3 comps probaly will be in the vicinity of the server then a wire runs up stairs 2 a room that has between 2-3 connections (PS2 gaming comp and Media pc). DOes anyone have any recomendations for cheap switchs i know bout dlink linksys and netgear but they not in the price range i want right now.

if all you want is a switch, you can buy a 10/100 switch for like $10 prolly. If it isnt a managed switch, they will all be about the same, so dont put much thought into brand.
also, looks cool.
also, please use punctuation ;)

Thanks all i know is linksys makes good routers d link makes some good network cards but i have never used switchs it will just be reg switch i will get one or 2 at newegg there like 15 with shipping (this will probally be a while no cash flow (i have no time to get job or ride still in high school ARGH)right now and we are redoing a room in my house for my pops new office/ where this will be setup but i will still set it up just wont have the switchs).

And about the puntuation i have never liked english always zone off in that class i know how to puntuate but i wrote everything in a rush like i am doing this. Making sure puntuation and all is right is more effort and time i dont feel like doing it.

Ok tomorrow i got off of school because i live in central flordia cause hurricane charley but i went bought some aluminum to make the brakets and some screws to mount everything (i think). I will have to wait till around sunday to get all the sanding and priming done on the case and the cuts for i/o plate cd rom power etc. I got some galvinized dremel blades #426 to use on another project the medal on htis is to strong to cut with them i will use a jig saw.

Ok got alot of work done on this today got 1/0 plate cut and cdrom slot cut will probaly get power slot cut but i dont know. Going to paint the case rustolem shinny black(rustolem cause it has rust spots on it and i dont feel like grinding it again). I need some help the comp will be a server but i dont know if my idea for fan setup will be ok im going to use the layout i used in above pic but next to ps will be its 80mm fan(i dont know if i should use another 80mm fan or cut this one off ps and hook up to molex or what) and a 120mm on top of case where plexi will be(need to get l brackets to make braces for top cover. Anyways that is rly confusing so basically what i need to know is 1 120mm intake fan and 1 80mm outake good enough at the places im putting them. I May go with a 80mm instead of a 120 cause i wanted a lighted fan grill but there is none for 120mm fans.
