ok, i've been thinking about maybe getting a water cooling system for my CPU. its a 2 Ghz celeron INTEL. right now i have a huge heat sink about 2 3/4" i have a 80mm fan on it i wanted to get the best i could so i didnt want to go with the usual setup. its a 80mm double ball bearing 2600 RPM case can. the CPU heatsink runs at about 80-85degrees F. i'm wondering if going with a water cooling system would cool it down anymore?
here the stuff i would get if i do the water cooling i dont know yet about the resouvour, i might just make my own if i do it.. same me like 30$
water block (http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=9301P)
radiator (http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=9309)
reservoir (if i get it) (http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=93310)
pump (http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=9337)

ok basicly what i want to know is, is this going to help my CPU run any better?

What heatsink do you have because those temperatures are really good. Where those temperatures taken while your CPU was under any load? Check your temperatures again becuase those seem to low to be true, when using air cooling.

If those temps are true, you shouldn't invest in water cooling. When your cpu temp gets to 130 or 140 under load, then you shlould be thinking about water.

i dont know the type of heatsink. this is a dell and i knew the heatsink was running very hot b4 because all there was, was a fan on the side with a little shute to the heat sink so i went and got an 80mm fan to put on it.. um it wasn't under ful load but i was doing stuff (listenin to music and chatting with people) i'll try to look at it next time i'm playing DOOM 3.. cant get more intense then that.
you can see what i have as the set up at [I]my site (http://www.geocities.com/mikestuff004) in the my rigs section

thanx for the help

Water coolong is over rated in my eyes. I have it and not all that impressed. Though I wanna try adding in a TEC. Then I think it should be worthwile

Are you still using the dell motherboard, and if so, how are you getting the temperature readings? I had a dell XPS Gen 2, and I couldn't tell how hot it was.
I wouldn't get a water cooling system if you still have the stock motherboard becuase you can't take advantage of the added benifits of a non-dell mobo, such as overclocking (that is why I gave my brother my dell and built my own rig). Anyway, Dells are built pretty solid to begin with. My old XPS only had 3 fans (two in a duct cooling my cpu and 1 fan for the rest of the system), even though it was a 3.0 GHz p4. In my opinion, if all the hardware the dell came with is still there, any extra cooling would be unneccessary.

Strive for good, quiet, effective air cooling before considering water cooling.

my dad has a "temp probe" basicly u point and shoot and it tells you the temperature, my computer sucked as far as cooling while it was stock, i''ve modded the cooling though you can see at my site, my computer came with one fan thats all no intake nothing , i wish dell made it so you could see the temps but i guess they're just to cheap. i'm kinda fed up with dell right now, my original hard drive got totalled on me a few nights ago and i went out got a 120gb hard drive and now my 30gb from the dell worx fine as a slave still cant figure it out but it worx. ya kinda annoyed i cant over clock it i would love to see how much better i could get, it oh well thanx guyz.

Why? The systems are rather different. You sound like the people that say to learn Pascal before C/C++. :)

With air cooling the air itself is a non-controlable variable. With water, you can add more read: bigger resivour, and better radiator.

You will still need air flow for the HDs, CDs, and PSU. (GPU and northbridge if they aren't wattercooled)

(been pondering building a watercooled PSU)

only thing is well, my scase is sooo small i'd have to have everthing out of the case (radaitor, resouvar, pump) so i think if i do i'll just wait and well get a new MOB new chip and new case... maybe a few years down the road... i was thinking about maybe making my own watercooling system but i wouldn't want to use it unless i was 100% sure it worked. that would be a good mod, a floating computer

Yeah, thats your best option, wait until you can dump the dell to water cool.

best to keep the res and rad outside of the case!! My rad is as tall as my full tower case, 2/3 as thick and about 1/4. Wouldn't fit in the case anyways. Keep the rad and res outside, since the internal is where the heat is generated. Othewise the ducting to make it 'right' will be a bear wihtout the right tools (anyone who cuts out the windows with a dremel has my HIGHEST reguards for paitence! That is SO the wrong tool for the job!)

water cooling is good, but I would take the money for it and do a vpu/cpu/hdd upgrade

you serious.... what are good fans that i can buy for xp2000+ that keeps is cool... also for whole case..... i need really good ones... i dont wanna make whole new thread about it....

search around look for 120mm if you want to cool the hole case. make sure you have a good one to bring air in and to push air out... for the processor just look around and get a good one thats ment for it... like i said my processor didn't even have a fan on it but i put one on and i can tell the difference. if you want to cool everything in ur case (hdds, ram,cd drives and such) then i hope you have a big case so you can fit the fans. just get a few to take in the air and a few to take it out and you'll be fine

i have a airconditioner unit in my room and i usually keep my room around 68-70 Degrees F during the summer and let me tell you.. that keeps my case real nice and cool inside haven't had any over heating problems yet.. thats the other thing i would suggest just having intake fans wont do anything unless u got cool air to bring in

you definitely do not need to go water cooled ur comp runs fine 80 is pretty good and i got 2ghz celeron runs like 50 c or so under load and the best i could overclock it was about 2.7 but it was unstable 2.5 was stable
