Do you mean a stealth drive? Using the plastic bay cover to hide your drives. There have been several threads started here about that, just use the search feature.

i used double sided tape and its kinda hard to take off because i used two peices otherwise one should be easy to take off with some little force

No no he is sayin to hide the floppy while not in use. U cant stealth a floppy like u can a cdrom drive u have 2 jsut cover hole till u need to use it again. Just use a floppy disc with the bay cover on it move floppy bak some then put floppy disc in. Oh and another way to stealth it is to get rid of it but maybe thats just me.

HERE IS AN IDEA!
just make a slide to cover the FDD when u dont use it oh and \/INDICATED gettting rid of the FDD will make it harder to do BIOS upgrades. most upgrades dont come on CD plus it'd be a waste of space to put it on a CD!
plus it is more compatible w/ older pcs

yea 86 the floppy.
When I need to flash the BIOS I just lay the drive on the desk beside my case
and hook the ribbon and power cable... flash... then stuff the noisy piece wire
clutter junk back in it's drawer so I don't have to see or hear it. http://casemod.mystarband.net/Smiles/ignore.gif

Naww they have lasted since 1997... but we have started to throw some away cause they have died and we already have spare parts... but sorry i cant give any cause their future is to go to the high schools computer literacy corse or so they say...

If you want to stealth your floppy drive you could put a spring loaded hinge on or near the bottom of the bay cover and slide the floppy back some so that the button clears.

OK my stealth CD drive cover fell off at a LAN party ( yea I know pathetic but it was my first mod) and it was my only extra so I was just sitting around trying to figure out how to stealth it now and I got it, duct tape! Just put a piece over the drive, use a utility knife to cut around the edge of the tray and voila cuz you can push the button through it and it works for floppies to (which I did). Its just a little harder because you have to cut out the button and take off the faceplate to do the piece that is hinged. But anyway as far as I'm concerned, problem solved. I will now take questions.

at 15 cents a CD, is it such a waste? just make a boot CD and go. Use a RW if its a big deal (I just grabbed a pack of mini CD RWs just for this) Plus the mini CDs kinda stand out.

They have there place I reckon in an old standard PC.
But In a modded gaming rig... No Way...It's akin to one of
those stupid 4' wings on a 4 door family sedan LoL
Useless and ugly... just doesn't belong.
And the floppy bashing continues... http://www.yoshi.us/forums/images/icons/icon13.gif

I *kinda* have one in my system. Its a LS120. I have 6 IDE connectors on the mobo, so its not sweat to have it. Seems a faster floppy then a regular floppy, plus I can get 120 megs on a ls120 disk. Nice for booting 'junk' ANd its slot loading and semi stealthed

I know that floppies are a relic of the past, but I had an old machine that I did a black/aluminum color scheme, and I used a Sharpie Metallic marker to color the floppy drive to match the theme.
You could keep your floppy, and keep it hidden by modding it into the back of the case, so you sill have it if you have to flash, or if someone hands you a floppy for some reason. You'd only have to take the faceplate off of the drive and cut holes for the button and to put the disc in.
I've seen those LS120 drives - I may be wrong, but I think they can eject with a software key command, so you could make a hole in the front of the case, and match it with some other vent holes. Then you wouldn't see it, and it would still be accessable via the front panel. - just use some other flashy stuff to divert people's attention away from that area.

Got one. Not sure about the software ejecting, but bet it can (can't test *now*) But the manual eject is still electronic. It is just a button, (like a CD) and not a mechanical eject like a floppy
But LS-120 is as antiquated as a floppy, just easier to mask/stealth but adds a 120Meg floppy to a system. (mine is set up as CD and LS120 on primary adn as first boot devices, hds, after that, then SCSI)
