Thanks to dworld who gave me the idea/insperation I started a copper PC. Its a ground up project. Its gone through quite a few revisions, but overall its the same design/shape.

You can find it at HUNware (http://www.hunware.com) under copper pc of course.

very nice. Personally i like cases made from scratch like that. BUT, heh, i thought my steel case was going to be heavy, but copper is heavier than steel. Also it dont be terribly strong and may be prone to bending/denting but then again, i like the look of it and if it isnt a lanparty case then who cares about mobility. I actually though about making my comp case out of copper, mainly because copper looks awesome

Thanks. Its really not that heavy. Done with no parts I gguess it will be about 4 pounds. Dents? Bends? not likely. The frame is ridgid pipe. Took a conduit bender to make it happen (I think it was L and drawn tempered) Its all silver soldered (I tried brazing, but didn't have anything hot enough to heat the pipe and the brazing rod enough) Should be strong enough. Theres good contact at the fish-mouths. And some are drilled and the pipe enters the other (kinda like a mortis) The sides are coper expanded metal towards the bottom then 100 copper mesh screening at the top. Backed by black card stock. So the side panels will weigh nothing.

No, its more of a show piece. I won't be using it much at all. It will house my Linux system mainly used for TiVo hacking.

cool. It is too bad you arent brazing it, it would look a little nicer.
On that note, can you not get handheld butane torch to use for brazing? i bet that would only run you a couple bucks. then again, you dont have 'that' much joining left to do so you should prolly stick with what soldering.

tried one (well the little butane soldering irons.) Radio Shack years ago had a little butane micronix dual cylindar thingy. THe tanks looked like CO2 carts. That would go to 5000F. The iron I have will melt the rod no prob, but won't heat the pipe up enough. I'm sanding down the silver, and then using copper leaf paint to touch it up. Looks pretty good too. I might have a ton of soldering to do. Gotta think out the next few steps.
