So Im only pretty new to this whole modding thing, but ive decided that Im gonna buy a computer and mod it, and i realise that the first thing that im gonna need is a dremel. I was looking at them today, and they are about that $150-$200, depending on the bits and pieces it comes with, so i had a look at the alternatives and I saw some for about $50-$90. Is it really worth paying the extra and getting a dremel, or will one of the cheaper ones be just as good???

what were the other ones? and 200$ sounds a lot for a dremel... i've seen them for like 60 or so. a jigsaw is good for metal, for acrylic or plexi either a nibbler, or i found a roto zip to work quite well.

i got myself a cheap one at menards a while back. was on sale. ten dollars for the rotary tool and like 60 or so bits. works really well. just i cant get the dang thing open enough to clean out the junk easily. gets kinda frustrating that it only opens like halfway.

I think it was a Power Master for about $50 and there was a GMC for about $90-100. The $200 pack had heaps of little bits and pieces that I would never use, twas about $150 for just the dremel. Would that be US$60... im talkind AU$... sorry... I probably should of mentioned that in my first post... my bad.

My dad has a Reciprocating saw and it has a metal blade. Would that work for gettin through a case alright?

Yea, it would get through it,
but it would be hard to make
a straight cut with.

very hard...
jigsaw or dremel is the way to go really....i prefer dremel for metal and jigsaw for long cuts on acrylic...and again dremel for the short cuts on acrylic...

Well i ended up getting the dremel. I got one for $98 (Australian) and that came with a few bits and pieces, but not too many. Ive already given it a good work out, and im happy with it.
