I'm new here, so comments/concerns/ideas about my case are welcome.

Been tinkering with ideas for months now on my case project, and settled on using 2 cases for my computer.

Started off with 2 basic cases.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v371/adadk/case.jpg
Stripped them both naked.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v371/adadk/WolfensteinProject0001.jpg
I was going to put them together side-by-side but that idea was taken as well. Dammit. But then i noticed something. I wouldnt be able to see the side window anyways because my case is always on the left side of my monitor. So I rearranged a case. Bingo.

Now I can see the guts AND have normal access to my DVD, fan controllers, etc. Took some measurements and then drilled the bolt holes.
Bolted the 2 cases together.

SUB-PROJECT:
Front Intake Fan.
The turbine style fans I see on some cases nowadays inspired me, but I wanted to try and make my own. Dollar stores rule. Plain stainless steel bowl. 99 cents. Bought 2 in case I messed one up.

Broke out the Dremel and started cutting the bottom out.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v371/adadk/pcpix004.jpg

Grinded down the edges to smooth them out. My crappy Fuji FinePix camera isnt that crappy after all. I had the drill on max yet you can still read the label on the grinding stone. Hmph.

Done.

The hole fits an 80mm fan perfectly.

I got it running on a 9-volt battery right now so it's not as bright as it will be.

Still got tonnes to do in what little spare time I have, but it's coming along.

Got my super-duper cooling fan at work. It's from an air hockey table. Just a beast. I looked up the specs:
2700-3000 rpm. 51-55 decibels. 180 cubic feet/minute. Yes.

It's a bit loud for its application, so I plan on housing it behind my computer in a case or whatever with some sound-dampeners,
and running a duct thru the case.
I dont just go out and buy everything already available. I improvise.
I brought home a steel shelf from a display at work we were throwing out, it's going to be cut and shaped for the front panel. I bought aluminum cookie sheets for other areas, etc.

Below is basically how the comp will look, kinda. Nothing is assembled but it will give you the general idea. All lighting will be in red.

Left Case: Will contain the motherboard, exhaust fans, and super-fan. Lit by lighted fans and 2 Lazer LEDS (3-way directional).

Right Case: Will contain the PSU, DVD-RW, DVD-ROM, fan/light controller, and 4th bay will house power/reset/super-fan switches.
Either in top 2 or bottom 3.5 inch bay will have my hard-drive. 3 of the slots are been rendered useless due to the Steel Bowl Fan.
Motherboard tray will be removed.

I'm going ahead with the Wolfenstein logo for the right case, but it's design is secret, and will be lit by 2 red CCFL's.
And I will definitely need a bigger desk.

Money is always tight at the end of the month, so dont expect massive updates anytime soon. Right now it's just gonna be little this-and-that things I do to the case, but when it gets noticeably better than this last pic, I'll post a new one.

Please ignore those huge round windows. I've changed my design and i will not be incorporating those in the case. I might use them in a future LAN machine I might build though.

Well no new work recently because my variable speed Dremel is now a one-speed / 35,000RPM Dremel.....last paycheque was for rent and bills. More work this coming weekend. Wednesday is payday so I'll be getting the Dremel fixed hopefully, but also need to pick up a jigsaw, wood, paint, and Bondo.

Continue on, my friend! This could be a really cool looking mod! Very Interesting concept with the two cases.

They will make round windows easy with the built on frames and the stainless ring should polish out nicely!

Nice work

Sweet man. I'v been wolf'n since "Test1". Now ET... but miss'n hard core beach action. \\\\Wolf till death//// HEHE!!!
anyways..
The case is very origional and i'm sure it will come out tight.
I like the turbine idea, you might think about a rheostat - mine works nicly.

Can't wait to see more.

The round windows are actually safety covers for metal halide high-bay lights. 16.5 inch diameter. I took em from work. I can make em fit real nice too, but they dont go with the theme, so they're being put away until i can find a better use for em...i.e. future LAN machine since Wolf will be too big and heavy to lug around.

Not much actual work lately, but I picked up a few more things for the project.

1. Ugly green plastic vase from the local dollar store. This is for a sound-dampening tube for the 6-inch superfan.
2. Cut the end off.

Steel box from a garage sale. This will be a big door on the side case. Opening it will expose a storage area for my games.

Basic black inkpad from work. This will be my "front door" on the case. Inside will be all my power and control buttons.

So thats about it today. I'll cut some panels tonight with the jigsaw or whatever.

Slowly but surely.

Only got 3 shelves cut to shape tonight. Bottom and middle shelves will be "hollowed" out to lighten its weight, and the cut marked 45 degrees will be for the top twin 80mm fan exhaust. I'll finish the cuts tomorrow after work and post pics.

Roof has been cut. 3 layers of 3/4 inch particle board. I dont want to give too much away, but it will be Bondo'd to work out imperfections and painted to theme. (in the next few weeks)
Pics of it mounted on the case will be posted soon.

Awww... I saw your post at Twistedmods saying the project was scrapped. It's a shame. :(
