Here is a picture of what the side panel will look like
http://img21.exs.cx/img21/1985/chase1.gif
The black will stay and the white will be cut out. The shield part is going to be held to the plexi by epoxy with small round head screws so to look like the original picture (http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/warcraft_samwise049c.html#gallery) The "L" will be epoxied onto the plexi. I plan to use blue and white LEDs to light up the shield with a light blue color. More to come.

He could attach the middle part to the plexi and have the plexi support it.

the "L" in the center will stay in place with a thin layer of epoxy. Getting ready to start cutting, hopefully that action will happen soon.

Ok, small update, its the weekend so hopefully I will get the side panels cut. During the week I modded the USB/Firewire hub to the floppy bay instead of on top where it originally was.
A general pic of my work area: http://img71.exs.cx/img71/4701/DSCF0106.jpg
Here is where the USB hub was originally. It was mounted in the little box and the box was in the hole: http://img79.exs.cx/img79/8647/DSCF111.jpg
The new spot for the USB hub. Cuts are a little janky, but thats ok: http://img65.exs.cx/img65/1600/DSCF0110.jpg
More updates soon.
EDIT: picture of new USB hub was a little shaky, I took another picture.

Sorry for the lack of updates, its been a slow process due to no time/money.
I have finished the side panel, everything is all laid out and ready to be glued into place. Here's a picture of the mock-up: http://img80.exs.cx/img80/346/DSCF163.jpg
And here's a close up of the "L" in the middle: http://img34.exs.cx/img34/8346/DSCF245.jpg
You might notice that I cut off both the bottom of the hammer and the ankh on the "L," I did that because I knew I don't have the skill to cut out the detail on the ankh and the design would have been extremely small with the bottom of the hammer still on because it was too long for the case door.
I can't decide whether or not to use the slightly scratched plastic that I salvaged from a store as the window, or to buy brand new plastic. Any suggestions?
Next is the other side panel, cut out to look like this: http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/warcraft_samwise050c.html#gallery
This case is turning out to be great.
